Andrew K
Small update the brake caliper paint i ordered has turned up so over the Christmas holiday period i will now get to give my front AP Racing calipers a coat of paint, gone with Matt Black so it will hopefully match the UK rear setup i`m thinking of getting. Andrew K
A few other things i have done recently are getting the power steering tank all cleaned up and looking like new, thanks to my local Bead Blaster came out better than i was expecting, shame i forgot to take some before pictures! As you may have seen from previous pictures in my project thread i made myself a custom heat shield / solenoid mounting bracket, i finally got round to having someone weld up some of the joins and blended the outside parts that are seen and gave it a polish up again. Andrew K
Been a little bit quiet at work recently! i knew at some point i would need to make myself one of these and that`s a Crank pulley locking tool, managed to find some pictures on the forum of peoples home made locking tools they had made so used them and fabricated one of my own. Chris Wilson
I really like the locking tool, but why didn't you bolt the handle to another pair of tapped outer holes and avoid having to notch the handle?
TheTurtleshead
I really like the locking tool, but why didn't you bolt the handle to another pair of tapped outer holes and avoid having to notch the handle? Convenience I'd guess. Bolt it on an use any two holes, no need to rotate the crank?
Andrew K
I really like the locking tool, but why didn't you bolt the handle to another pair of tapped outer holes and avoid having to notch the handle? Thanks The equally spaced out holes are so you move the handle to a different position if needed, it wasn't until I'd finished making it I noticed there were 2 positions where the handle needed a notch so thought I'd do it while it was set up on the Bridgeport milling machine. Convenience I'd guess. Bolt it on an use any two holes, no need to rotate the crank? Yeah just for convenience and no need to rotate the crank, well that was the idea

Andrew K
Been busy over the last few weekends Finally got my AP Racing brake calipers painted, looking a lot better now and are all ready to be fitted to the car. I made myself a wooden stand as you can see in the pictures, this was to make life easier while painting.
Andrew K
The next thing i turned my attention to was the engine loom, it had some right dodgy soldering joining things onto it by the previous owner I cleaned everything up and re-soldered the bad messy joins and covered all of the repairs with heat shrink wrapping so it now looks nice and neat. also gave everything a major wipe down to remove all the years of built up grime!while i was working on the engine loom i replaced all the coil pack clips with brand new ones. Andrew K
I ordered a few parts of Steve Manley in the week and took a trip over to Oxford to pick them up today, i needed a replacement plug as one was broken on my engine loom (didn`t think you could get these until Lee told me about them, cheers bud) also got myself a new starter motor and fuel filter. A little picture of the starter motor in place so i could see what it look like in place with every thing else
Andrew K
After i got back from Oxford i thought i`d do the little job of fitting my Whifbitz Solid shifter mounts, not a bad job to do but bet that`s a different story if the box was still in the car! Good job i replaced these as the original ones had seen better days wish i`d taken a picture of them before i chucked them in the bin! Andrew K
Been waiting to get some parts sorted but now i have i spent the day doing the necessary machining and getting the parts fitted together and mounted on the block, i had to find an adapter plug to fit in the hole where the original oil pressure switch was and drilled & tapped an 1/8 NPT tapered thread into the centre of it, this was done so i could screw my oil pressure adapter into it as wanted to still be able to use the original one as well as the Defi oil sensor. When i ordered a new oil pressure switch from Toyota it did not fit the plug on the main loom!:blink:it also had a smaller thread on it compared to what is in the block:Pling: luckily this is where the above adapter plug comes in handy even if your not putting a second adapter fitting in like i am,i mentioned this to Steve Manley about the loom plug not fitting and he ordered the correct plug with enough extension wire on it so i can cut the old plug off and join this new one on. The adapter fitting i was using needed a second hole drilled & tapped for the Defi oil pressure sensor, i decided to drill & tap this at a 10 degree angle as it was pretty close to the block plus i`m wanting this to all fit behind the air con pump. Andrew K
Here are a few pictures of everything assembled and both oil pressure switches in place, i test fitted an old air con pump after and yes it all fits in nicely so well happy. Andrew K
Getting quite excited now the engine is basically done and i`ve got my car booked in with SRD, i am now waiting to hear from Lee as to when he can start. Lee and the team will be doing all the finishing off for me and checking over everything and getting it all fitted in the car along with the Syvecs, can`t wait to have all this fitted now so i can just enjoy driving the car.
