billy0090
afternoon, I read somewhere you can pull a fuse when the spoiler is down to make it stay down. does any one know where this is located? cheers
ellis
Either that or get one of AndrewOW's natty spoiler override switches - allows you to put it up and down at will - better for speed bumps and tramps in the road.
fastcar
Isn't there a button in the car below the sterio that allows you to keep it in the down position
billy0090
no, you can put it down with the ignition on but as soon as you start the car it goes back up and only comes down around 60mpH i believe. I have pmed a guy on there that i found when i searched active spoiler that makes the switch .
bigbloodyturbo
the fuse is next to the throttle pedal. Put the spoiler down when the ignition is on then pull the fuse. It will stay down but it finds kerbs hella fast.

jonc
Really? I will have to check this I'm sure when I push the manual button it just stays down intill I tell it over wise. But then I haven't ever really tryed it to be honest. If its original OEM fittings then as soon as you start the car the spoiler will retract. It will lower again at 100 KPH I think (about 60ish MPH if your converter is fitted correctly). The are a couple of controllers that have been made by different members (i Think Garfy may have made one years ago) which allows you to control the blade your self. If I remember rightly removing the fuse will keep the blade down but I think the light on the switch flashes continuously (I could be wrong on that one though:blink:). The actual blade is quite low when down so speed bumps etc will cause a few problems Edited June 1, 2013 by jonc (see edit history)
Gpro
you could cut any wires leading to the active spoiler
Rich.2211
You could unplug the connector located under the O/S headlight. Not sure if it will throw up any warnings but worth a try? Three 10mm bolts to undo the head light and the connector sits underneath it. It's grey, you'll spot it straight away.
Alex
To get no errors you drop it then pull the plug out of the control unit behind the stereo. Top silver box. Unplugging this stops the car knowing its even there.
Guest Budz86
Buy one of the override switches mate, you want to have the flexibility with speed bumps! Looks very oem when fitted too. AndrewOW is your man, he has taken over Garfys legacy
SteveC
If Toyota had originally designed the front spoiler with a switch on the dash to only manually lower/raise it as required, I wonder if people would now ask : "Is there a way to make it lower automatically when you get to around 60mph?" Yes, that's me. They are a simple ECU that just bypasses the factory fitted ECU without damaging anything. I've replied to your PM.

AndrewOW
Well, I thought I would provide a quick snap of the override module to show what it looks like, and hope it doesn't look too complicated to install. I provide full installation instructions too.
Andrew K
If the car hasn't got any of the loom fitted from the factory, can these be made to work with the factory switch and all wiring to reach to the plug on the motor for the spoiler?
AndrewOW
Yes, indeed. I can also produce an override module that contains the complete loom direct to the front spoiler.
Havard
Either that or get one of AndrewOW's natty spoiler override switches - allows you to put it up and down at will - better for speed bumps and tramps in the road. I have one of these and they are the shizz. I don't know how members get on with the spoiler being permanently down as we have scraped ours a couple of times when we have forgotten to put it back up. These come with simple instructions on how to fit the controller too. H.

I've replied to your PM. Darn, wish I had seen this thread earlier ha! Ive just spent hours on the drive fitting my ECU, buttons, and spoiler! Yup, worked a treat with engine not running, thought "jackpot" cleaned it up, removed my grubby fingers prints off everything... AND yep, started car, spoiler came up Didnt realise I couldnt choose to have it down at slow speeds!! came down at around 60 as u say. with an override switch, will it still use OEM buttons? and would it still be auto or is it now just totally manual? Cheers, danny
AndrewOW
With an override module, you'll be able to manually control the spoiler completely from when you turn the ignition on.
Guest 111tom
Hey man, Do you still make the bypass switch?
