Guest AlmightyJu
So my poor little NA supra failed its MOT rear shock was gone and apparently both calipers are sticking on the back, so I spent today changing the shock and playing with the caliper. The caliper wasn't actually sticking, it just wouldn't move at all! the piston was stuck, well and truly stuck, so after a bit of persuasion I got the piston out and it was covered in rust and not in a good way, but the part that confuses me is what has happened here: it looks as if the shiny surface has just rotted away and its really rough, I'm guessing thats not normal? Also after a lot of work the brake now works, but its getting really hot so its now sticking, could it have damaged the brake lines where the piston wasn't moving and causing the line to take the pressure? I'm on the verge of getting 2 new calipers and lines and just be done with it, haven't even started the other side yet to check it but it doesn't cook so I'm guessing it might not be sticking but its just the MOT place thinking its both when it might not be :/ On the upside kyb rear suspension has a nice feel to them
LOGIE
You can buy caliper refurb kits from MrT, Might be a tad pricey though
LOGIE
Or try sticking up a WANTED ad for a cheap set of working NA rear calipers with lines, they go cheap. I've even seem go for free before. Try and PM a member called "carbon bullet" he has just stripped a NA completely to bits.
