Mace
I recently bought a bodykitted n/a auto as a donor. It had a bonnet vent thought it was a nasty bodykit vent had mesh in it and everything, opened the bonnet and sound deadening didn't have a hole for the vent so I assumed it was stuck on ebay rubbish.. Sound deadening fell off today when I opened the bonnet and what do you know theres a hole under that vent. Is this a genuine UK bonnet? does the uk spec have mesh in it? and is it complete in the pics? i.e every bonnet vent i've had before had water diverters this doesn't seem to. It doesn't seem important maybe but I was on the lookout for a uk bonnet to rebuild my uk spec supra and in black too! I had it up for sale for £45 because I thought it was fake! Guest last light bulb
is it a alloy bonnet? alluminum? is the bonnet dent free?
listy
Genuine UK bonnets have ducting iirc. Not 100% sure, as I don't have one, but sure I've heard it talked about.
Mace
The actual vent is genuine its got toyota and part number stamped on it, just i thought there was a metal tray or something on the underside?? can you buy the tray or other bits seperatly? Guigsy
Yes there is ducting on the under side of a genuine bonnet. Like this. Not sure why I have this pic on my phone or whose pic it is but this has been modified slightly. But you get the idea
Dnk
Plenty of j spec bonnets have the UK spec scoop fitted so it having the scoop is neither here nor there. If its a genuine UK bonnet it will be pretty obvious as the holes in it where the airflows through will be pressed out during its manufacture and not cut out by someone afterwards. The scoops parts can be bought individually, the metal under plate in Guigsys photo is to direct the airflow to the snorkel which bolts to the side of cylinder head, this has to be removed or modified if you fit a strut brace A better picture would help of the underside but it does look like its been pressed out to me rather than cut out Edited May 25, 2013 by Dnk (see edit history)
Guigsy
Depends on the brace. Mine fits
Andrew K
Also you should be able to tell by looking at the edges of the outer skin of the bonnet, when you take the vent of there shouldn't be sharp edges around the hole. The edges will be nice a neatly formed and bent round. I know as I've got an original vented bonnet on mine and that's what mines like
Mace
Its a genuine one like you said the edges are perfect you'd never cut them like that. Need that plate now does anyone have a part no.? bet the plate costs me more than i get for my perfect j spec bonnet
Dnk
Its crazy what the bonnets sell for, a j spec is approx £900 and the sound deadening is nearly £200 new from Toyota.
Andrew K
Do you mean this plate? https://jza80.mkivsupra.net/imports/2013/05/1084.jpg[/img]"] Seal, hood air 76186-14010
