Guest last light bulb
Hi uhm, well its summer time...and the shows are on, and my supra is misbehaveing ?? after running fine fine ages....(Murpheys law). I did a light tune up, took for drive, she went well, running fine, then came back got enthusiastic, and washed the car, then being a smart arse ..i thought , hey wash the engine bay yeah yahooo.....facepalm, i lightly atomised spray washed, not flloded or doushed the bay!!!!!!!!!......all connectors are rubber fits..sealed, so i thought hey man..what trouble can i get??? i let the engine dry of for half hour, then ran the engine...thinking...mmm the engine heat will dry the bay faster.....so i let her idle for nearly fouty mins....she seemed ok, i took her for a drive.....she was ok.....parked up, left her over n ight This is where the fun began.....start up, ok from cold start.......when she got to normal operateing temp........oppppppssss.....misfire......mmmmm......it will clear i thought to my self....nope.. She getting hot something smells hot..so shut her down....obvious fuel going into the cat............ Well i took all the electrical connectors off to check them, all dry!!! all clean!!..all makeing good contact. I applied Ms4 electrical jelly to all connectors before re connecting for future safe ness from moisture... I checked the distributer/rotor(thease were replaced 2 months ago).....leads, spark plugs(thease were replaced two months ago), all seem fine. I cleaned the throttle bodys and throttle plate, cleaned the stepper motor(it was not gummed up), cleaned the pcv valve and hoses.....i know this fault came after the engine wash.....but i wanted to know that the engine was at a certain point.....all good......so hence why i did this extra work. I find, when i put radio lights interiour fan on, and AC the engine dosnt hold a steady idle...it revs up and down? so this leads me to a assumption..........got be the stepper motor? ??????????????????????????????????/ my interiour warning light Eng diag light dosnt work face palm ...so its not easy to read the flash codes ...or to let the engine talk to me throught this light sigh.............i did a quick check on the stepper motor , and it activates if i put voltage through the middle and earth each outter connector....(can see the stepper rod....move in or out, ) done just a quickly of course.....so this would say to me that the stepper motor is fine? above 1000 the engine seems fine? its below this when shes idling? that the misfire seems to be there? Has anyone a Manuel they can send me via email would be nice......if some one could help please...was hopeing to make the fast and furious meet this weekend!!!!!!!!! Guest last light bulb
Oh when i left her to sit over night , when she misfired the next day, i noticed water laying on the engine bottom cover obviously water left over from the wash...so maybe water in the bay over night...got in some where? this is all i can assume ..:/...and maybe the damp enviroment has lead to the misfire...but as i have already said...on inspection.....all connectors were as dry as a desert ???? ok many thanks

Josh42
Have you tried drying out the spark plug wells mate? I had a similar issue caused by water around the plugs. Take all the leads off and WD40 the connections, then using a rolled up piece of a4 paper, soak up any moisture in the plug wells.
Nic
then using a rolled up piece of a4 paper, soak up any moisture in the plug wells. Or just blow any water out with a high pressure air line.

Guest last light bulb
Hey Mr josh!!...did you get weird surge idle as well? with your plug problem? load engine with all electrical , then find the idle fluctuated?
Littler
Think Josh is right sounds like you have water in the spark plug wells, best bet is to check them before stripping to much off. Especially as you've cleaned the engine.
Guest last light bulb
Well story so far.........number 5 and number 6 (rear spark plug wells fairly full of water-didnt find any mermaids or whales though)....even after 2/3 days since the light atomised spray wash.........dryed out , and dryed the HT ends, re assembled, everything back together...:$ uhm its worse now...arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. alot white smoke out back on the start up......and she has the mis during warm up now too?.......im thinking something worse...sigh.........its 10 pm now nearly 11 im giveing up for the night on it...........mmmmm....this simple clean is turning into a labarinth and head spin...:/ just something to mess up a bank holiday blast it...i tried running her in the dark...so if there was any shorting electic...i would see it in the darkness.....but , i couldnt see any :/ Edited May 23, 2013 by last light bulb (see edit history)

Guest last light bulb
proceeding to the sparking plugs now fellas , be back in a while ok, many thanks,, any help is really apretiated thanks thumbs up
Dr_Doom
Almost 100% certain it will be water in the plugs. I did the same thing years ago & so have many others. Its a bad design really as there is no way the water can drain out or really escape.
DodgyRog
Another vote for water around you plugs, usually 5+6, but if you literally sprayed water over the engine then maybe all
