Guest suprachris91
I waited 4 years to buy a Supra mate, plenty come up for decent money, as already said £6k should get you a minty mint NA or a very tidy TT auto. I would buy a decent NA for £4kish then save the rest for a decent TT conversion. OR.... Buy and NA and a TT engine, drive the NA for a few years while slowly rebuilding the TT lump then drop it in. Perfect solution. Have you got any quotes for an import TT yet? i found there wasnt much difference to be honest, fuel is pretty much the same until you really go for a hoon in the TT. My TT was my daily driver doing 160 miles a week on about £50 with mixed driving, which was only a few guide more than my Leon Cupra R used to do! obviously if you have a heavy foot you will need shares in the local Shell station. Also be aware that these cars are getting on a bit now and its not a case of IF work needs doing, but WHEN. Most parts easily available from breakers on here etc but some parts are still very expensive such as £700 for replacement suspension arms from Toyota. Dont let that put you off, they are bullet proof engines, usual Japanese build quality and reliability so take your time have a good hunt around and get a nice one. Great advice tbh mate might do the NA and by a TT engine idea would be good to have a engine to work on etc i have a mate who specialises in engine conversions etc which is handy will defiantly take my time finding the right one as I don't any regrets in the future so might wait for a black SZ-R to pop up I'm just glad 6k is enough for a mint one as I was thinking I'd only get a average one with high miles
Luxluc
Welcome. If you take the passenger seat in a TT, you won't look for a NA anymore

abtin90
Cheers mate and thanks for the advice will need to have a go in a TT if anyone is from the west mids but insurance might be abit high ATM plus if I get a SZ-R I'd defiantly do a conversion in the future so will be worth the wait I'm sure plus will give me time to make the exterior and interior perfect then start the engine work No worries mate, it's worth looking at insurance quotes for both as you'd be surprised at how little the difference in price can be at times. One member found a massive price difference when trying to insure a TT6 when compared to his TT auto. If you could save a little more it would be worth looking at a UK TT as insurance will be a lot cheaper. I remember being quoting the same amount (may have even been less) for a UK TT when compared to my NA.

I will have a look tonight but wouldn't a NA be better on fuel etc as ill be using it daily for a while
Abz
I will have a look tonight but wouldn't a NA be better on fuel etc as ill be using it daily for a while I have owned both TT & NA and I'd say the NA uses just as much fuel as the TT!
Scooter
There certainly isn't enough in it to be a deal breaker... The biggest problem you'll have is your patience or lack of it because the supply is low with probably a handful or so a week coming up for sale so the temptation is to get one from what is currently available. A facelift SZ-R as mentioned will be a good buy around 4K, you cannot really lose any money and they are bomb proof. The TT's will require care in selection as at the same price there can be massive contrasts in condition and imminent costs. eg this looks ok/nice/tidy if you could get a bit off it http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Supra-3-0-Twin-Turbo-Mk4-/140978938887?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item20d2ffe407 or this http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/toyota-supra-3lt-silver/1018956893 Edited May 21, 2013 by Scooter (see edit history)
Gpro
Didn't realise you could get a 6speed NA haha will keep a look out and yes will save for a TT conversion but will do mods like exhaust and filter anyway From personal experience when i removed the stock airbox and replaced it with a HKS mushroom filter i honestly lost power! Keep the stock airbox and replaced the panel filter with HKS or K&N TRUST me you will regred it
