prosty
Hi! Who in the UK or maybe someone here on the forums can rebuild my USDM (same as Euro / UK spec) Stock Twin Turbos? Can someone give me an estimate or a point of contact so I can check for myself? Tried a search but it's hard to sort out the results. I live in Sweden so I have to send my turbos to you and then the turbos back to me ofc regards Markus
mellonman
depends on the rebuild you can get the housing bored out to take a larger compressor but imho not worth it. rebuilds are around 1k (also depends on how much you want rebuilt) but i bet is to pick up a good second hand if you can
prosty
No I want them stock. New seals and bearings and an overhaul ofc. But the turbos are in fine working order, just a bit of shaft play but no smoke. Same issue when buying second hand as the ones that I already have.. I'm pushing my twins hard so I need them to be fresh.
mellonman
then that is alot cheaper.
Guest Budz86
From memory the difference in having them rebuilt stock, or slightly uprated is minimal - around 100 per unit iirc. There have been some problems with the updated ones though - people have seen them pop with very low mileage. Try CR turbos, but I'd be tempted to pick up a second hand set for 200-300. prosty
Dropped an e-mail to CR Turbos, thanks for the tip! Any more suggestions ?
Kev.O
I've never used this company but its another option turbo dynamics

Swampy442
Turbo technics also have a very good reputation, but not very good on the price front. Is there nobody in Scandanavia that can do turbos?
prosty
Yeah I've e-mailed the two biggest builders, they are _costly_ to say the least. If I look in the US the prices are about a third of what I have to pay here at home. We're small countries in Scandinavia so less sources here. A small amount of shaft play is normal, if the turbos are not smoking and the turbine/compressor wheels are okay, I would leave them alone. Rebuilt/hybrid turbos regularly suffer from premature bearing and seal wear, if you do get them rebuilt then make sure you get a good warranty on them. prosty
Yeah but 20-22 PSI will make them suffer a bit
Nic
Yeah but 20-22 PSI will make them suffer a bit Anything above 1.2bar/18psi and the turbos are getting out of their efficiency range, they'll generate a lot of heat for negligible gains. If you're going to run that sort of pressure then you'll need a good quality ducted intercooler and water injection to keep charge temps down, you'll also need an ECU mapped to run at those pressures safely. prosty
4-row intercooler , WB02 , EGT with good values , noticed increased trap speeds above 18 psi up to 22 psi so they did deliver more power even though ppl sais they don't..
