berg
My car already has a rear fog installed by previous owner(s) but its not working I have a switch next to the ignition which gets its power from the dimmer switch and is fused. the little light is not lighting up on the switch Wiring and fuses look fine, ive even tried another switch which also did not work Checked the bulb and it also works fine if i swap it into the reverse light on the other side Im stumped! Anyone have any ideas or is it going to need completely re-doing? Is having the switch spliced into the dimmer switch the way people normally do it\? l.chris97
Maybe a relay or the fuse on the relay if its fused.
berg
The switch is fused itself but its basically a wire coming from the dimmer switch into a fuse then a wire from the fuse into the fog switch and thats how its wired. The dimmer switch works fine
hackin_n_bashin
Normally spliced into the low beam headlights, so they must be on to turn the fog light on. Have you checked to see if your getting 12v to the fog when the headlights and switch are both turned on?
l.chris97
I take it that is a three prong switch....so power earth and switched power check your getting 12v on the switched pin

Nick85
Not to be insulting but are you trying with the sidelight switched on? I only ask because when I was trying my switch it wouldn't light up if the sidelights were off. Once I turned my sidelights on it worked
berg
Yer ive been trying it with the headlights turned on
berg
Sorted now....the wire connection from the dimmer was a bad connection and fiddling with it had blown the fuse for the dash lights. All soldered properly now and working but the bulb is half white half red so need to try and find a red bulb now or get a new bulb and paint it
