mellonman
If it continues spinning after you've rotated it, and there's no play, it's ok. I still maintain that in your video, it sounds like the manifold is blowing its nuts off. Totally agree there it a massive blow somewhere under that bonnet, you can clearly hear in the vid so in real life I would of thought it would stick out like a sore thumb
Fly
I think the blow may have been coming from a slightly misaligned downpipe ....i cannot find any blowing around the manifold and I've burned myself enough times now
ashbuster
cant you run some thick oil or washing up liquid along the joins and get someone to start it? wouldnt it blow the liquid off of the place where its blowing so you can see it
Fly
Suppose it would work, wouldn't do it with oil though

Noz
I've leak spray at work. I can send you some if you like? Another cheap way is to use tissue paper, to see if it flies about from any air blowing. Gas/air/pressure flows in the easiest route. Even if you had a blow, I would of thought the turbo would spin continuously and the engine wouldn't die. I've seen 2JZ run without headers, I don't understand why a leak would be causing your engine to drop out. Are you still looking at this turbo spinning problem? This could be a mistake of me offering here, BUT, my turbo is currently off. What if you swap turbos and see if you have the same problem? It's a pain in the ass to do, but might at least show you if it's the turbo screwed. Some bits I'm waiting for won't be here for THREE bloody weeks, which means the turbo's just sat there doing sod all. Plus then I need a few days to get things sorted, so probably going to be a month before I'm needing it again. Fly
Noz thank you for the kind offer but I can't accept I would hate for anything to happen to your unit whilst trying to solve my issues. Well today I dragged her out and took her for a spin to check for leaks or overhearing. I have to say she performed amazingly I was only ever at part throttle and below 3k I could here the boost building and her dumping nicely. Went to the petrol station filled up and back again. One problem is that the lower inter cooler brackets are too low and catching do they are coming off. However I then decided to take the missis out to show her my creation. Fired her up and she was juddering and very hesitant to accelerate. How can a far change soo much after being turned off for ten minutes!? mellonman
Putting in the wrong fuel at the station maybe?

She was fine after leaving the petrol station and another 30mins to drive home..it sounds like a missfire but why would it develop after the long run!? im really annoyed as i thought i had a successful day prior to my mapping session on thursday. unless i can cure it tomorrow its looking like a rain check
