Rob_Mitchell
Hey guys just a quick question, the supra we bought as the donor car has a 5 speed manual box fitted, now would this be ok to use for the v8 conversion?? we know the other route is to put a auto box on, change transmission tunnels ect but just curious if we can use the 5 speed box. Any help is much appreciated
Chris Bailey
You can use both - Paul Whiffin uses the autobox on his 1UZ-FE V8. If you ever want more power you would either have to go builtbox or go manual.

We wont be going mad with the power on this build.

Style
Companies and I think even Paul can make up adapter plates that will allow the manual to work on the 1UZ. I did a bit of research as a possibility on my NA 6 spd EDIT: Something like this http://www.1uzfeswapkit.com/W55565758-manual-transmission-to-xUZFE-adaptor-plate-0000-0012.htm

Style
I think I saw someone post drawings of all the components online somewhere. Might be wrong, maybe a Soarer club or something which could allow you to knock them up yourself?

bigbloodyturbo
My google skillz are weaksauce but I turned up this.. http://www.v-eight.com/tech_forum/viewtopic.php?t=753 Would imagine a machine shop would knock that up relatively quickly as its just a plate. EdMorris
The v-eight.com website was a source of really good techy info for me when I did my build. Lots of very helpful guys with actual experience of doing this conversion and actual technical/engineering drawings that a machinist could follow in order to replicate an adapter plate for the V8. Not sure if its still running as it was badly hacked a while ago, so I stopped using it.
