XP Password reset??

Had a users laptop in today as he's been stupid enough to turn on passwords but can not remember the User password or the Administrator Password and the guest acount is disabled.

I think we are going to have to take the drive out and bring it up in a caddy so we can get the pics he wants off it, then rebuild it..

Unless any of you have a program or any other ideas how we could reset them? I've seen a few on the web but they charge you and don't think they will work..

Thanks.

You have got a few choices...

You can either use one of those linux boot cd's which apparently gets round it...

Or the better and more elegant solution is to use a windows pe boot up disk.. check out http://www.nu2.nu and you can make yourself a network aware win32 boot up cd

These work, you can then change the passwords to whatever you want, and/or make the password blank.
