Dnk
On my sisters Alfa the distributor has 4 holes in its underside, any ideas what these are for. I'm guessing breather holes of some kind to let heat out the dizzy perhaps Edited May 13, 2013 by Dnk (see edit history)
Noz
Could it be locator holes for the machining process?
Dnk
Could it be locator holes for the machining process? Can't see why. The reason i'm trying to find out is because we got water in the dizzy at Silverstone which cost us a DNF in the first race with my sisters Alfa and i'm not sure if this is where it got in. The dizzy on the Alfa is low down on the front r/h side of the engine and is open to all the elements coming straight through the front grill and from under the bay I was thinking of blocking the holes off but don't want to cause other problems
Noz
I suppose the unit isn't too large the whole unit couldn't be held from the OD. Was just thinking outside the box But then if they are through holes venting seem's more likely.
safcdixon
Maybe a lubricating hole? if it butts right up to the head that is.
Swampy442
This is certainly Chris Wilson territory. Id say block them off, its open to the elements so will be cool enough.
Dnk
I'm hoping CW will pitch in, i've asked a few Alfa guys and drawn a blank. I'm inclined to race tape them over for now and see what happens, the only problem is the car is out at Monza in 2 weeks time where the weather is as changable as here.
