Andrew
Anyone fitted one of these? I have searched the net but only found a few written examples of how to fit these and not very good ones to be honest. There is a good example with pictures on MKIV.com, but that's for the HKS turbo timer, would that be the same procedure minus the vaccum pipe the Blitz has for the boost gauge? The only electrical mod I have fitted so far is the VFFC from Pete (TRL Performance), that was easier than I first thought, mainly due to Pete's instructions being easy to follow. The problem with the Blitz turbo timer is, as I understand it, it fits any turbo car, so can't imagine them having indepth fitting instructions that would explain fitting for specific cars. Would I be right in saying that? Could anyone who sells these give me a quote on cost of the unit plus fitting, plus harness for a 1994-95 Supra. Oh and one last question, on the high boost alarm, is it audio as well as visual? Thanks, Andrew.
kubus1
Hi Andrew, I fitted one myself. It was the first one I have ever done and I only had the Japanese manual to it. I speak a bit of japanese so it helped me slightly, but I can say that its rather simple to fit. The harness I got was i think £16 including delivery. I got it from Blitz UK. At first the amount of work involved scared me but it was not that bad. The hight boost alarm is audio as well as visual. All together, very good TT. Small and easy to fit. Andrew
Thanks Kubus. You say you got it from Blitz UK and the instructions were in Japanese, does the manual have pictures relating to the Supra? I've worked my way around some of those Japanese manuals, but only if they have pictures Nice to know that the alarm is audio, that's just what I'm after. Thanks again, might have a crack at it myself then.
kubus1
I got the TT from Japan and the harness from Blitz UK. Give it a go, you ll feel good when it all works.
Andrew
Even more reason to do it myself is that I have been quoted £210 for the unit and fitting, I was hoping for around £160-170. Surely it's not a 2 hour job? Seen them on the net for £130 in the UK and £80 from the states. Harness about £14-£20.
womble
Chris Wilson fitted one to my car, it might be best to double check with him but I'm sure he said it only took an hour. It does as others have confirmed have an audioable and on the visual side of things the backlight turns from green to red, all in all a nice piece of kit. Got mine from Paul Whiffin. SimonB
I've got one that I fitted myself. Pretty easy really, especially if you have the cable harness. There's a hide-away control box and the little display thing. With a harness you would plug this into the ignition switch plug. You then have to tee a wire into the cable going to the handbrake switch (or you can just leave this - it just makes sure the timer switches off if someone takes the handbrake off). Only tricky part is getting the tube for the boost gauge bit through into the engine compartment. It's a bit fiddly - use the gommit either where the clutch pedal would be if you have an auto, or in the passenger-side wing if you have a manual. You have to find somewhere to put the control unit and the hide-away bit as well. Mine started off mounted in a blanking plate under my single DIN stereo, using a cubby-hole/CD storage thing you can get from Halfords.
