Dan_Q
old thread bump. hope this is ok, I have a few questions on the same subject. I'm doing some research on pads as I plan to change mine to UK's soon- so a question to the EBC people- are these all experiences with yellowstuff??? the reason I ask is I've used them on a previous sprint car (2.0 FWD celica) and I have them currently on my Jspecs on the soop, and I think they're great. on the celica they were far better than stock or pagid fast road pads. on the soop I had mintex pads (road ones I think, not fancy ones) when I first bought the car and they were good cold, but any sort of heat and they faded quite badly. when I swapped them to yellowstuff I had none of that, and the cold performance was equally good if not better than the mintex. best thing IMHO is that the yellows work so well from cold- as I have strange requirements! I drive the car lots on the road, but the main requirement is for sprints, IE one lap from stone cold, and i also do the odd track day too- so I also need ones that can take the heat every now and then. can anyone who has used chris Wilson or Porterfield pads let me know what their cold performance was like? I was going to go with yellowstuff again because I have had such good experience with them, but thought I'd ask before parting with my hard earned. I'll be running brand new mrT blank discs and flushing through more fresh motul RBF600 fluid when I do the job. thanks in advance.
fastcar
If you want a good set of pads for the road I found that porterfield road pads are extremely good. Felt the difference immediately and that was on J-spec brakes
Benjy
Porterfields nearly killed me! They're pants. That coupled with whoever fitted the grooved discs the wrong way... OE or CW.

Not what I found to be honest! Did you have the road pads or the race pads?
Benjy
Not sure. Someone else fitted them before I got the car. Now running UK specs with OE discs and pads and it stops perfectly now.

Guest Budz86
CW fast road pads ftw. Superb stopping power for all but the harshest of use! I have OEM disks, CW pads and RBF 600 fluid with do luck braided hoses and they work very well! That's with jspec rears too!
Chris Wilson
My fast road pads are on special offer. Full set of UK pads £140 plus VAT with free insured delivery to a UK postcode. Jap spec ones are £130 plus VAT a full car set, same free delivery to a UK postcode. I do these pads for a LOT of other cars now, too. Happy Christmas! Steve Paine
I loved my Chris Wilson fast road pads in my j spec callipers with Black diamond grooved rotors, great feel and good breaking. I'm not 100% certain that the tarot 6 pots I have replaced them with are a better option!
Dan_Q
Chris, do your fast road pads work well from cold? what's the price on just a front UK axle set? don't wanna sh!t before my knickers are down with the rears. Cheers
Chris Wilson
They work perfectly from cold, and no more dust or noise than stock. Fronts only are £85 plus VAT with £5.80 insured P&P Thanks Dan.
Dan_Q
Very tempted. Very very tempted. And good when hot too? note when i do go to the odd track day, being a sprinter, i get tired easily so i'm usually only out 10 laps or less (unless its wet and therefore quiet!) Chris Wilson
They are a fast road pad but plenty of people have used them on track days too. But they are NOT a race compound.
Dan_Q
thanks for the info chris, i appreciate it. i suppose its make my mind up time. some of the sprint tracks i do can be up to 3 miles, and i do come in very hot. but i only have NA power so closing speeds not massive! Tsia
CW Pads ordered . Think I'll do a re-bleed as well. Does anybody know how much brake fluid I'll need for a non ABS J-Spec system?
Chris Wilson
Thanks for the order. About 1 litre will be plenty if you have no whoopsies. If you need decent fluid I will probably have some at a good price and can send free of additional postage with the the pads. Just let me know if you would like a price. All the best for 2014.
