V160 output shaft companion flange removal tool

Hi All,

I am going to be replacing the Selector Seal on my V160 soon and as the Propshaft will be off I was thinking I may as well do the Output shaft seal as well mainly as these seals are now getting on for 20 years old and could probably do with replacing.

Does anyone know what the recommended tool for removing the companion flange so I can get to the Output Shaft seal?

I assume that the Output seal can be done while the box is in place?

If it's just the selector seal that's leaking, then personally I'd just replace that. The output shaft can be done at any time - IF it does ever decide to leak. The gearbox doesn't have to come off to change the output shaft seal.

When the gearbox comes off to change the clutch, then it is worth changing the rear crankshaft seal and the gearbox input seal whilst the gearbox is off.

They are not usually all that tight to be honest mate.

I swapped them between the R154 & the W58 while I was doing the conversion, neither took anymore than a gentle tap from behind and a small pry bar to remove.

Useful to know :) Cheers mate.
