Westy
Whipped off my idle control valve this morning to try and give it a clean...did all the hard parts and then the little Phillips screws wouldn't play ball! One eventually came out but the other one thinks he is in there for a life sentence! Head started to chew so decided to fill the ICV with carb cleaner and let it do it's stuff. Loads of crap ran out but obviously it's not anywhere near as good as separating it!

You could try a small chefs blowtorch on it or one of those jet flame cigarette lighters. Similar principle for removing the boot rubbers. hodge
Westy you need to use some small long nose mole grips on the screw. It will crack off pretty easily with those big man.

Westy
Got a phone call from MrT about parts I ordered so went and picked them up this afternoon: 10litres Toyota Red Coolant US Style "Supra Turbo" badge Vacuum Hose that I split a few weeks ago What a difference 19 years of heat has made to the vac hose...old one is hard, brittle and has been set in a slightly different shape! Westy
Crazy 6 speed FTW Truth! Fitted my new vac hose today and thankfully the weather allowed me to get an oil change done on the car! Old filter was tight as again but eventually it shifted! No idea why people tighten them that much!
Westy
Noticed a slight leak at the rear of my V160 yesterday whilst doing the oil change, so just ordered new seals courtesy of Chris Wilson. INFORMATION - Gear shaft selector seals for six speed manuals, a special seal that doesn't entail you performing the almost impossible task of getting the old seal out without scoring or scratching the selector shaft itself and making things 100 times worse. Just thoroughly clean with brake cleaner, tap the old seal in further, and put the new on in in front of it. A trick used on old BL cars with similar selector shaft issues. These special seals are £4.80 plus VAT each. Gearbox rear seals, manual 6 speed only, just over 1/2 Toyota price, very few left. My price £19.82 plus VAT.
