MarkWs Bronze Behemoth - UPDATED page 42

I missed this over the last few days... I looked back on the Thread I used when getting mine done with him ( http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?246289-Geometry-Setup-Scotland/page3&highlight=Kenny+brown) and I remember being quoted £85 odd too and was meant to take an hour or 2. In the end it took 7 1/2 hours due to them struggling with seized bolts on the camber adjusters. It ended up costing me £195 once it was done and although it was well over what I expected before I went in, the amount of time they spent on it I knew it was going to be sore. I was happy with the night and day difference it made though so didn't complain at the time and still recommended him after this.

I think it's worth noting though that that seems to have been three of us that expected to pay £85 and ended up paying a lot more. If I remember he said initially that would be the price if everything goes without a hitch. Just saying for anyone else, it's a warning not to expect the low price initially quoted as it could go a lot higher. Still a worthwhile thing to have done for me though.

Did you visit the caffe westy? Any sign of the ps3? (read old thread for reminder)

There were no issues re seized bolts or anything mate...he said it was one of the cleanest cars he had worked on and everything came apart easily. I think the time got eaten up as he said they had to adjust everything seven times all in to get the final figures that he wanted.

I explained before leaving that this was my daily driver so he didn't make it too aggressive and went more for an optimum balance between grip and tyre wear. When I spoke to GI Motorsport they did say that Kenny was more expensive than other place but that the service was well worth it as the car would be spot on (which is more important to me than the extra £59 charged tbh).

Nice Mark.

There a couple of guys (including me) who had the alignment done recently .. and discovered that the geo was very bad before being setup correctly.

I think is very important to get the geo done every time major changes are done to the car. The guys at WIM told me that even a drop / lift (on height adjustable coilovers) of more than 10mm will have an impact on the geo setup !

Yes Lux. I totally agree.

Never been to clued up re suspension settings but Kenny said that he also had to adjust the spring preload and damper settings as they were outwith an optimum setting.

Before the fronts used to catch on full lock but that has been rectified with these adjustments also.

+1 ;)

I had to change my rears every 600 mls ... now that the geo is spot on, I've done 1500mls on the rears, and they look like new.

Big money saver right there!

The fronts that are on have lasted 1,500 miles from new! Rears look fine!

Glad it's sorted.:)

  • 2 months later...

As this is my daily driver car it's time for some Fuchs Titan Race 5w-40 Oil, genuine Toyota Oil Filter and new magnetic sump plug to be fitted prior to the winter months.

Car hasn't missed a beat and as a special treat I've just paid for some bling from Robs Gold Rush Supra to spruce up the engine bay a little.:) Might be a bit OTT for a daily but this is what I've bought:

24ct gold Greddy Oil Cap

24ct gold Suspension Rings

24ct gold Radiator Plinth

24ct gold Bonnet Stay

Chrome bonnet hinges
