Pig
The turbo oil feed came loose today allowing oil to leak onto the housing and smoke. I tighten ed it back up and it is fine but I wanted to take it off, clean it up and put some of that orange stuff in to ensure it is properly sealed. What is the sealing stuff called? Thanks

hodge
Personally I wouldn't put any kind of sealant anywhere near an oil feed. If and of it goes in the hole then you can say goodbye to your turbo. If its an AN fitting (-3AN or -4AN) the female seals onto a cone at the top of the male fitting. Both male and female should be nachined to a 32 finish which is pretty much perfectly smooth. Unless its a cheap shit fitting and pipework it should never leak if you have tightened it correctly. If it leaks again, replace it and the fittings. Don't risk your turbo with sealant. Interesting as it has had something used when fitted by Whifbitz (see pic). Good to know though - seeing as it is now nice and oily I will compromise and undo by a couple of threads or so and put lock tight on - no danger of anything getting in that way. Thanks both! hodge
Just to confirm, it's the female fitting you wanted to put lock tight on and not the 1/8 NPT that screws into the turbo housing.
Pig
I have tested the car over the last couple of days after just tightening and all seems fine so I am just going to leave it and keep an eye on it. Hodge, I was talking about using lock tight on both the top bit and the bottom bit and the reason for this is that the bottom bit has sealer on it already from when whifbitz installed it..?
