Josh42
Okay guys, I'm about ready to donate the car to the next passer by. I've been trying to remove the rear lower arm (no.2) for about a week now. I ended up grinding the subframe end out, but now I'm stuck again as the ball joint WILL NOT come out of the back of the hub. I've tried WD40, I've tried a 4lb lump hammer and I've tried a blow torch. Any other ideas?
Chris Bailey
Leaver bar! Failing that more HEAT and a hammer!
safcdixon
Stihl saw Can it not be pressed out if you remove the whole Hub
Josh42
That was my next plan...to remove the hub and take it into work and use one of our presses.... Was just wondering if anyone else had any recommendations before I go through the heartache of removing the hub and potentially hitting this same snag with all the other arms:(
safcdixon
As chris says Lots of heat should help but you may risk cracking the cast hub if you hit it too hard
Chris Bailey
As chris says Lots of heat should help but you may risk cracking the cast hub if you hit it too hard We have this trouble at work when doing wheel bearings on Renault Masters, Always heat it up till its red hot. Use a very big 30+mm socket and hit it with a hammer. 8/10 it comes out!
