Camry5Sgte
Did this start happening after u changed the plugs? First question will always be, what changed right before a problem started?
mwilkinson
Fueling issue? Did you upgrade the fuel pump from stock? I would then double check the clips you replace to make sure they are all correct. ^^ I've checked the FAQ section and those plugs are rated for BPU with gaps unchanged. We're they brand new? jjs_82
It just came on her one day thats why i got the new plugs and clips. I have a new bosch 044 but that was in her before the misfire came along.
mwilkinson
Easy thing to do to see if it is a boost related issue is to dial back the boost and see it still happens. Failing that find another member who will let you swap coil packs over and see if it still occurs.
jjs_82
Ok when i have my foot to the floor i have the misfire but if i let off a bit the misfire stops. So that would be me letting the boost drop off a bit
listy
I have a similar problem but only after a very short journey. On longer journeys, or if I leave the car running a couple of minutes after, it doesn't happen. I've changed plugs and clips too. My next step is to remove the O2 sensor and replace with a new one. After that, I think the only other option is new coil packs
jjs_82
I have a new 02 sensor in my one. My one is at it all the time
Nic
I'd start by double checking all the coil pack connectors are secure, i'd then try fitting a set of cheap cooler grade plugs (NGK BKR8E) gapped 0.7mm.
Nic
My next step is to remove the O2 sensor and replace with a new one. The O2 sensor only effects fuelling at low rpm when in closed loop, it won't cause a misfire at higher rpm on boost. What plugs do you have fitted? listy
I have BKR7EIX Iridiums. The recommended plugs for BPU. Mine only seems to occur after very short trips though. (A mile or two to the shops) I thought it may be over fuelling, affecting the spark?
jjs_82
So you think the NGK 8 will help
Nic
So you think the NGK 8 will help It *may* be the plugs causing the misfire, for the relatively low cost it'd be worth trying a standard set of cooler grade plugs to see if it does make a difference,
mellonman
I have a cold missfire idle fine if I drive missfires bad sometime nearly cuts out, but after it warm say 5 minutes its perfict also if I floor it when its missfiring I get into boost and its fine really odd, could a temp sensor cause it, I have new clips, plugs, o2, Its getting on my nervse abit now, could a igniter be on its way out any thoughts? Guest RJAfarrier
i have this very same problem, mis-fire on boost. i have a 95 auto with 165000km on the clock. what was the mileage of your car when the problem started? would it seem this problem is becoming common around a certain mileage? jjs_82
My one has about 94000kms. I was just thinking about getting 3 new coil packs
mellonman
alot of the second turbo stuff could be just the coil pack clips or wrong plugs or fuel pump depends if it was bpu'ed correctly
j.oe
The problem should relate to the 1,1 mm gap those plugs originally have. Gap them to 0,6 mm and all will be fine. Had the same issue on mine.
Slippery
In the last year and half I have developed a misfire twice and both times it turned out to be my brand new supersparx coil packs. Both sets did less than 1500 miles. Fitted old Toyota ones and as good as gold since.
