Kev.O
About 6 months ago, Mark asked me to strip out some of the unwanted wiring from all the car looms which started off as a small job lasting about a month . I managed to use all OEM connectors and pins as well as relocate the main fusebox and remove the drivers side fuse box and integration relay. Mark also wanted to use a syvecs with all the sensors and a dash 2. Here are some of the progress pictures: Here's a few shots from last night. Managed to do about 3 hours work which unfortunately doesn't look that much:
Kev.O
That's just the upper loom that goes behind the dash. I'm starting in the lower loom now: Here's a picture I took of a fresh and hacked engine bay loom:
Kev.O
Here's a few pictures of today's progress. The beginning of the engine bay loom: A few hours later with most the of wires traced and marked:
Kev.O
Looms are almost complete. Here's a sample shot: Finally I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Here's the first of the completed looms. Just need to get a connect for the rear fog and reverse wires.
Kev.O
Spent about 8 hours on the engine loom. Here's a shot of the amount of wires after removing some of the tape: This is what the loom looked like once I removed the tape: A lot of the time today was tracing wires from the other looms as this is the final piece of the jigsaw. Here's a picture after I managed to mark up most of the connectors and remove some of the redundant cable for the auto box: I know the above doesn't look that impressive, but this gives you an idea of the amount of redundant wiring I removed from this loom:
Kev.O
Spent all last night and today working on the engine bay loom. Thought it was a good opportunity to relocate the fuse board Before: After, though I just need to conduit it and add the new alternator wiring: I've also been busy removing the drivers side fuse board. The idea is to run everything from the main fuse board. This has allowed me to remove some large cables.

Kev.O
Well it's taken a lot longer than I first thought it would but I've finally finished the custom looms. In the end Mark and I decided to carry out a fuse box relocation as well as a fuse box deletion (drivers side). This involved a lot if rewiring and a little thinking outside the box but I got there. I'm really pleased with the results. It doesn't look much, but anyone that's tried wiring in the Supra will understand. I managed to wire everything right first time and only blew two fuses. First one was when I connected a test lead to the positive instead of the negative and the other was the 15amp fuse I used to protect the battery. This blew after I took the picture with everything on as I turned the reverse light on and over loaded the fuse. Here's some pictures: The test lab: The dash 2: The custom engine bay loom with only the necessary wiring left: Custom dash wiring (just need to wire the can bus for the dash 2): Edited May 4, 2013 by Kev.O (see edit history)
