DaveR
Since I had my single turbo conversion completed, my air con hasn't been working properly. At the time I figured it was just time to get it re-gassed (I've never had to do that in five years so it was probably due) but seeing as it was winter at the time the job went right to the bottom of my priority list. Yesterday I took Suki to get re-gassed and indeed the guy at Kwik Fit said the system was a bit low. The gas went in and held with no leaks but afterwards it's made no difference. The air con light comes on and there is air blowing out of the vents but it just doesn't seem refrigerated. The really weird thing is that I'm convinced the air is slightly colder than with just the blowers on. My air con previously was VERY good, so I'm a bit baffled. I can't find a fuse specifically for the air con - I've checked the two boxes in the engine bay and the one under the driver's side dash. Are there any more hiding from me...? Or does the system use the same fuse as another (the heater, for instance)? As the light on the button comes on when it's pushed I think I can safely eliminate a potential problem with the multiplug behind the dash panel. I'm hoping this isn't a problem with the compressor, mainly as that sounds expensive but also because I have limited time to sort it out before the summer hits and I'm forced to melt in my car! Help please!!
Benjy
Does the A/C fan switch on along with the compressor?
DaveR
Yeah I think so. All of the buttons seem to work just fine and I think the air con itself is working to a point, it's just that the air isn't being refrigerated...

Rob_Mitchell
Can you hear the compressor clutch kick in when you turn it on? It could be the pressure sensor faulty. There is a number of things which i can be
DaveR
Can you hear the compressor clutch kick in when you turn it on? I checked for this. I confess I can't hear a clicking, but then to be fair I don't know PRECISELY what I'm listening for and the engine's quite loud anyway (including the undamped injector clicking) so unless it's really noticeable I'm not sure if you would be able to hear it... Or am I wrong?
Rob_Mitchell
Ok.... erm... when you start it up and put the aircon on does the centre of the aircon pulley spin? thats how you can tell its enagaging if your not sure on what to listen for

Abz
I take it Kwikfit done a leak test before they attempted to fill the air con? I tend to switch mine on at least once a month.... It's a bit tropical in London
