SUPRA2012
I am thinking about doing rallycross, and as I already have a 93 MK4 Supra, I am considering shedding some weight from it and just using it...the other option is to buy a 944..anyway, can I shed 200 kg?...that would be ideal...bringing it down to 1280 kg....and upping the bhp/ton from 148 to 171..... .the most obvious items: 1replace all glass with plastic ( apart from frontscreen) 2 window motors 3 air con 4 door cards/carpets/rear seats 5 replace front seats ( retain 1 lightweight seat) 6 rear wiper It doesn't look as if 200kg is realistic...100kg MAYBE, at a push...making it 159 bhp/ton... I will mull it over...all ideas welcome
j_jza80
I don't think you'll be far off if you remove that lot. Others to consider: - swap stock airbag wheel for basic aftermarket one - stereo, speakers and associated gubbins - dashboard - heater box - swap exhaust for lighter aftermarket one - remove ABS
SUPRA2012
Arthur Daley? Absolute class ( I also have an XJS! ....that sounds good...I will also need to get a roll cage...its currently on 18'' wheels....I should drop down to 16's....I don't think you'll be far off if you remove that lot. listy
Get rid of the air con. Spare wheel. Roof lining. All interior trim. Don't forget, a full cage is going to add a fair bit of weight back on too.
Supra Gaz
The heater matrix and stock seats weigh a ton, they should help out massively.
sideexitsupra
Danger is that you put all the weight back in again with the cage! I think SteveL's race car was about 1300Kg, so a saving of 250KG. He had a full cage but the car was absolutely stripped. Lightweight bonnet, carbon hatch, plastic windows in fixed position so no electric motors in the doors, the dash was just the shell with everything removed internally with carbon panels and light digi dash. Door bars were cut out and all the sprayed on noise insulation stuff was chipped off too. All the heater stuff was removed and he fitted a heated windscreen to keep it road legal!!! kill1308
You could take the NA engine out.... you probably wouldn't see much of a performance decrease

mihai
If you think will be competitive, try to strip 150kg ! more fun sure can be.
Scooter
Yawn yawn yawn with the NA jokes, like you can't possibly have fun in anything without boost and 300bhp..... To the OP, the doors and hatch are really heavy but the lightweight options to replace them are expensive. Depending on what you have already the exhaust system including manifolds could be replaced, stock ones are built to last but VERY heavy
