ryansupra
Hi guys, I currently have her at 14 psi and have a Kakimoto cat-back and an EVC4. Was thinking of boosting her up to the limit of the stock twins to around 18 psi. Will the stock cats melt or cause trouble? I would like to leave it as legal as possible.. TheTurtleshead
You'll kill your turbos trying to go for BPU boost levels on stock cats.... You need 2x decats and a restrictor ring(if Jspec!).
mellonman
As said temps will get too hot decat needed

ryansupra
Ok, thanks for the input.. Anybody used a metal core high flow cat with stock twins? I know catless is the way to go but here in Canada its a big deal if you dont have cats.. Cops look for this

Cops look for this Smash the cat out and bolt back up or even smash it out and weld in a straight pipe through it so it looks like you have a cat in there? or do you guys get emission tested? Yes, we have emission tests every 2 years, thats why i am trying to avoid removing the cats and putting them back just for the test.. And if i place a pipe in the middle, then i wont be able to pass the test at all. Anybody done an electronic dump? Some kind of electronic valve that will bypass the cats to raise boost? DaveR
When my car was BPU I ran the first cat' and just removed the second. I had no issues whatsoever...
FOSTA
Just get decats as they are just bolt on, then when its due for emissions testing put your cats back in simples! It will not take you long to swap them out each time Edited April 14, 2013 by FOSTA (see edit history)

That's harsh man haha I'd change them out as necessary. Doesn't take long if you have a jack, hoist or ramps. There is a pipe/valve setup that with a flick of a switch will either exit straight after the dump (before the first cat) or if you don't flick the switch, will travel through the whole exhaust. Though I don't see how this would benefit you any further if you are going to be inspected anyway.
ryansupra
I'll just decat and put them back before emissions.. I guess its not that hard of a job.. Thanks for the input.
