Chris Bailey
Hey guys, Im making this thread on behalf of my dad. We seem to have a leak coming from underneath the car which is a red/brown fluid which we believe is coming from the gearbox, It only happened recently and tbh its not a massive leak. But it needs to be sorted, Which is the best technique to check the gearbox oil?. I know there is a transmission dip stick but is there a special way of doing it? Do we check it with the car running and in "Park"??? Any help would be much appreciated Cheers!

garethr
Also double check where it's actually coming from. Although, as you might assume, my old Soarer leaked from the gearbox/sump joint, on my GS one of the hard pipes for the transmission cooler corroded (admittedly it's done a lot of miles year round in all weathers, unlike most Supras). David P
You'll get Toyota ATF from Mr T. After a year of playing with it, to admit on here to not know how a dipstick works must have just knocked a couple of grand off it's re-sale value.
