Guest Xsstyl
Hi everybody, I purchased a 2000 JDM TT a few months back and the I was given 2 factory Toyota keys with the vehicle. The main key appears to be for remote central locking and has a unlock and lock button and has the Toyota symbol on it. The second key was a normal Toyota key. My problem is that ever since I got it it hasn't worked. I have replaced the battery and still no luck. I have searched endlessly on the net for an answer but still no real luck. Some threads mention something about a box under the drivers seat. I have a box under the driver seat however it does not appear to have anything to do with the central locking. I would really love to get the factory central locking working again as the key has to be used manually. The one key activates both doors when you go to lock one of them. I have visited my local Toyota dealer but as expected they wanted to book the vehicle in and then wanted to charge me regardless of what they found, good, bad or nothing at all and because its an import they really didn't have any idea. Anyway I am putting it out there to see if,anyone else has come across this and knows how to fix it or re programme the system. Or even where the alarm is situated? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Jamie698
If you search Door Control Unit, this will likely be the item at fault.
Scooter
99% of us over here have to fit a CAT 1 alarm and so we have aftermarket key fobs that control the central locking. I remember one of my old ones having the standard keys you mention with a button on but afaik there is no alarm on the Japanese cars as standard? Basically I'm not sure about why the button doesn't operate the central locking and doubt anyone on here still has the original keys without some form of aftermarket fobs and so advice may be limited, so I would recommend (unless I've got the wrong end of the stick somewhere) you to install a aftermarket alarm system.
