Dnk
I'd personally leave it alone and keep it as Toyota intended
safcdixon
Have a search for the NA-turbo threads mate theres loads of projects on Na-t at the minute, or do a full tt engine transplant (cheaper/easier etc) If not na-t then exhaust/manifold/decats is about it I think
listy
Best option is either NA-t or drop a TT engine in it. Either way you're looking £3k plus. (TT6 conversion circa £6k) How much extra BHP depends on how far you go/money spent. Just buying a TT would be cheaper, short term, but there may be hidden problems with any purchase of cars this old. Decats and induction on an NA won't get you much more power (not a noticeable increase anyway)
Dnk
Induction wont get you anything but it'll sound quicker Edited March 26, 2013 by Dnk (see edit history)
Gaz6002
Try having a search. All of the answers to your questions have been reiterated over and over again. How did you buy it new? Did you go to Japan for it?

Paul has a turbo kit at whifbitz and there are a lot of NA-T's about, have a search and you will find some of the builds but personally I'd leave it be. http://www.garagewhifbitz.co.uk/index.php/garage-whifbitz-11773.html Also edited the title to something a bit more readable Edited March 26, 2013 by Littler (see edit history)
Kirk
decat - Just makes the car noisier and free's up a couple of HP remap - Can't be done with out some form of piggy back or standalone ecu. Even then its a waste of time and money fit turbo - Best option really but not cheap to do it right and you will be limited to the amount of boost you can make. The gearbox won't stand up to the increase of torque for very long unless you drive it like its on life support which defies the whole point of extra HP. the cost and expected increase in BHP - Anywhere around 2k - 5-6k+ depending on parts used, who builds it and how far you push it. Again engine will be limited on boost so at a guess 350-400hp at most.

Scooter
Looks a lovely car, the decat's do make a difference (NA owners are more sensitive to small gains ) even Chris Wilson has been quoted as saying he was surprised at the difference. The trade off is (excessive) noise.

herbiemercman
safcdixon, littler, kirk, scooter, good technical answers, appreciated. I also have to accept the more jokular posts as there is truth in them, it's a great pity that toyota put such a low bhp power unit in the na's, may be i have been lucky with my experience , many cars just give up at the 120mph mark, also the supra is much more stable at speed than turbo fiats etc, especially in windy weather. I got a 3 months ban 6 yrs back for averaging 120mph comming down from beatock on the m74, the chase car was a vauxhall sri, a fast car , but not fast enough, he only caught me where the m/way goes from three to two lanes. My brother bought the mk4 tt at the same time that i bought my car, 1995,he still has it in cotton wool,it's also been to chris wilson, i have driven it in the iom, super grunt, but not keen on the auto bit, i like to drive, my car is manual, and put some wheel spin on when there is an audience. So i can soldier on or bite the bullit and buy a black tt manual, this car has to be black, IMHO, and has to be manual. There are some nice examples on this site but it is £20k for the right one. herbiemercman. SUPRA SNOW DUSTING..jpg (180.0 KB) SUPRA.MEH.#2.jpg (81.2 KB) SUPRA. SUP. SIDE.BEST PICT. Ian C
£20k for the right one?! You aren't looking at a certain car company that constantly spams Pistonheads are you...?
Littler
If your looking at the £20K mark i'd stretch and pick this one up http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?286324-1998-Supra-6-Speed-VVTI-HKS-T04Z-600ps-(late-model)-very-low-miles-13-000 But I find myself keep looking at this one and thinking it's pretty much done, add a syvecs in, tidy up the engine bay, put my current wheels on and add my own interior touch (no gauges, clean stock panels and toucan display), it will save me a lot of the money I'm looking to spend http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?276837-Black-1995-UK-6-Speed-Single-Turbo Edited March 27, 2013 by Littler (see edit history)
mihai
If you want to stick NA and increase hp... intake and exhaust and after this... higher revs and too much money for a noticeable result. - - - Updated - - - If you want to stick NA and increase hp... intake and exhaust and after this... higher revs and too much money for a noticeable result. Scooter
out of interest scooter, excessive noise in the car or through the tailpipe? I can live with a noisy cabin but don't want Mr db man to fail me on a noise test. my direct experience is mainly forum feedback and seeing/hearing others. I have a Blitz Nur spec S which is just replaces the very last section of the stock exhaust and that makes a fair difference. Both cats out and it'll be loud even with the stock twin box centre section. Non cats and say a Blitz Nur spec R exhaust is stupidly (setting other car alarms off) loud. Graham1984
I have a manifold decat and 2nd decat and one of Paul Whiffin's twin box catback exhausts and it keeps the noise well in check. Get a mines ecu too if you are lucky enough to find one. The only downside to all this is that by the time you buy and fit all this stuff for a few £££'s extra you could of had a auto TT sadly, not that I would ever be silly enough to do this
Thorin
Sell it, and buy a TT. If I had £20k to spend I wouldn't be buying a Supra now.
