How to stop fuel pump when engine not running.

I have a supra racecar, thats not having to original wiring left.

So no fuel pumpe ecu.

How can I make the pump stop, when not running?

Is there any pinout on the ecu that I can use?

 

I know I can use the oil pressure switch, but is there any other options?

Most race cars have a seperate fuel pump switch or even switches (depending on the number of fuel pumps in the car), usually near the battery cut-off switch.

 

I'm going to do away with my ignition key switch as I have a battery master switch, ignition switch, fuel pump switch and a push button for the starter.

 

None of them are wired up just now though!

My HKS boost gauge has the same setup as the four circling your boost gauge =o! I haven't seen anyone else with those.

We are a select few my friend.:)

 

I like them better than the digital options but because they are the old type of gauge parts are hard to source.

 

Have you a good source for the proper sensors that go with those gauges? I'd find it very difficult to pick up a replacement sensor over here if one ever failed on me.

That is why race cars have a cut off switch that is operational from the outside too.

 

If you crash who is to say that the engine will cut out and even if it did the ignition would still be live which is just as dangerous in a situation like that.

 

If you genuinely race the Supra then this feature is a basic safety requirement.

 

But ECU pin numbers E10-21 & E10-22 are designated for the fuel pump ECU, maybe you could test both of those pins and see if either one is a +12v (with the engine cranking & running) that you could use as the switch line to the fuel pump relay, it would only work though if the +12v on the pin disappeared when the engine is stopped off but the ignition is still energised.

 

I still say a proper battery isolation switch that is operational from inside & outside the car is the best plan, that way if you aren't able to turn off the car by means of the key or the battery isolation switch then someone can once they get to you.

Its just a piece of spare Lexan (polycarbonate) that I cut to size using the original panel as a VERY rough template mate. Fit and finish are not massively important to me, the quicker & cheaper I can get something made or done the more impressed I am.:)

 

Then I used the proper size hole saw to cut the holes for the gauges and I think I cut the square holes with the "small drill bit and jig-saw method"

 

Then I sanded the back of the panel to achieve that "bog window" look!
