TT ECU retrofit to a NA

Hi all now this is me brainstorming as always so look past the amount of work required or what would be gained and look at what would be required

Is it possible to run a GE on a GTE ecu IF

Independant cam and crank sensors fitted (full dizzy delete)

Coil packs and ignitor fitted

New wiring run through to the correct pin outs to support the above

The ecus have different pinouts so wiring re pinned at the plug to reflect this

Is there any other inputs that the ecu would need to run the engine that the tt setup has that the ge doesnt? IF there is would these inputs be fulfilled if it was an NA/T?

Get your thinking caps on guys we all like a bit of a challenge dont we ;)

Hi mate, Ive done this on my NA Aristo, Ive got the TT Ecu working, using VVti coilpacks and Ignitor, there isn't that much wiring changes involved. I used a thread from clublexus, link below and followed it to the word and the car pretty much fired up first time after the ECU change, u will need the ECU of course, ignitor, coils, Map sensor, u need to ground the extra cam sensor grounds on the ecu side, 440c injectors, and do a few other bits and bobs....I did this on a auto and the ECU is throwing a few codes on the box, but its all working, if ur manual then Id go with a 6 speed TT Ecu, anyway check out this thread

Thats a great help thanks mate :) as a twist if you put a piggyback on aswell injector size wouldnt matter as you could tailor the signal to suit whats installed? Thats a good shout about the transmission i was focusing so much on the engine/electronics i hadnt thought about transmission type :)

just a point but if you are going to all that trouble to then piggy back it anyway why dont you just install a standalone. Or install a megasquirt which is the cheaper end of the market and probably along similar budget lines.

Fair point but like i said this post is all about what would be required :) it would have to be a cheap standalone but saying that ive no idea how much a stock ecu sells for?, a cheap emanage blue can be picked up for £200

Look on the trigger wheels website, i think off the top of my head you can pick up a full MS3 system plus trigger wheel for 300-500 dependant on what options you go for and if you buy larger jets from them. if your going that way i would seriously consider it!!

Will have to look it up as all of that is Chinese to me lol ;)

So it seems that's its not actually much work to fit a Tt ecu to an NA, can anyone tell me how much a stock Tt ecu would sell for?

£50 to £100 quid. You will have to use a crank trigger off a TT and a TT oil pump with the mount for a TT crank trigger sensor. Unless you know what you are doing and fabricate a custom crank trigger to match the output of a TT one exactly.

Thanks chris that's what I was thinking :) do you know if the oil pump itself is any different to the NA pump? Would running a Tt pump on an NA result in higher oil preassure as there are no oil squirters?
