Hi guys checked my ignition timing the other day and had some funny results got a brand new gunson advanced timing light blocked the pins in the dignostic port cliped on to green wire started her up and got a reading of 26deg before tdc now i know the car should be 10deg but it was ticking over fine and runs fine !!! so either my timing gun is shot or something isnt right :( just wondering if anyone has any suggetions ?? on and how do you adjust the timing on the 2jzgte ??? your probly think this is a dumb question but i am new to the mkiv supra :) cheers

Here's a little trick of the trade: Don't clip a timing light around the green loop of wire in the igniter connector; it's just the designated decoy. You can use a normal timing light just fine by clipping it around both of the wires going to the coilpack of cylinder one. The arrow on the pickup points towards the sparkplug, just like on a HT lead. It does mean taking the spark plug cover off, which is a pain when you just want to check the timing.

You cant adjust the timing on the 2JZ GTE, its set by the ECU. And, like I asked on the other thread, why did you need to check it anyway?

Hi mate i have allways checked timing on all of my cars as sometimes it can throw out a little only checked this one as i am doin a lil over haul you know new oil filter plugs all the old usauls so while i am there quick check of timing and adjust if needed lol
