Brazil
I am planning my full cabin re-trim, I've decided on the place I want to do it and they have offered the service of removing and replacing the entire front dashboard. But I am worried about letting somebody that doesn't know Supra's do the job, am I over reacting? Would it be a better idea to let my mechanic do it? Please let me know what you think and links to guides on how to best tackle it. ''I believe the Heater Matrix replacement guided is a good place to start.'' For the guys that had your dash trimmed, is there any parts which the leather is coming up which I can tell the trimmers to give extra attention too? Thanks.. RobUK
There are probably 2 ways of looking at it... If you take the dash out then you have to get it back in without damaging the newly refurbished dash.... If you leave them to do it all then it has to go back in as it came out - working! Personally I would take it out myself.... If you are going to pay someone to take it out then I would go with the dash company over a mechanic as they will probably have a much better idea of the looms, connectors etc than a mechanic... Mariusz
I would probably remove it myself, get them to do the trim and then replace it myself. I'm sure you will take a lot more pride and care.[sAD][/sAD] Edited March 17, 2013 by Mariusz (see edit history)
DannoSupra
Don't us mechanics know our way around looms and connectors?
Mariusz
I'm sure most mechanics are great. I know my luck, would get the 1% cowboy tho lol. Plus I have OCD
DannoSupra
But to the point, i'de let the trimmers remove and refit! Regardless of what cars' they've worked on, they'll know exactly what to do! At the end of the day it's their job to remove, retrim and refit interior panels If/when i get mine retrimmed im just going to give the company the whole car at let them at it

Brazil
I share both views mentioned above, my mechanics I trust because they have also have built my single turbo set up and the lead guy is also a car alarm specialist..! But in the other hand, removing the dash I a delicate procedure and it may be better to have somebody that's had lots of experience doing it..! a98pmalcolm
If u damage the retrim refiting it u have a problem. If they are happy to do it all if has to be perfect once its back in. If not. They have to sort it. Id let them do it all...
