Urgent HELP!!! Mid job heater matrix replacement!!!

Hi there,

I've taken my Supra in to have the heater matrix replaced and the mechanic has called saying that the air con unit has to be removed in order for him to get to the matrix and replace. He says that he would have to get someone in to remove the air con unit and re-gas which would cost a lot more.

Having quickly scrolled through the matrix replacement guides on here and seen that it was too big a job for me, I cant remember seeing anything about factoring in the air con removal and re-gasing. Is there soemone with experience of this that can confirm if the air con needs to be removed and regassed or is there an alternative way?

Help would be very much appreciated as im without car!

Thanks all!

The 2 air con pipes need to be undone to get the plate moved for removal of the heater matrix. You can't get the heater box out without these AC pipes popped out of the socket they are in.

You should NOT remove these pipes if there is still air con gas in the system. :)

The whole air con arrangement doesn't need to be removed, just the 2 pipes to be disconnected to get the retaining plate for the heater box free.

Just get an aircon regas place to empty the system then your mechanic

can do the matrix then just get it refilled, its not that expensive to do

Should be mobile ones in your area if you search google, i'd have

thought £50 to empty and regas the system, some are more some

less
