Zeiretto
Hey guys, So something I've noticed in my short Supra ownership, is that my odometer is supposed to say whether it's in miles or kilometres. Mine doesn't say anything. Is this a technical fault or do you guys think it's been tampered with...? Thing is, the odometer reads only 31.000 (should be in km's since it's never been in the UK) and it's in near showroom condition, but you never know.. I don't trust it. Edit: the odometer itself works fine mind you, it keeps adding kilometers as I drive it!
ashbuster
if its adding km then wouldnt it be in km?
SPG
What does your Speedo read, KMH or MPH
Zeiretto
Yeah, I'm not wondering if it's in kilometres, just wondering why the odometer doesn't say it's in kilometres. Here's a picture: http://i.minus.com/iz9ux4xpbszZB.jpg It should say "km" on the right, shouldn't it!?
listy
I don't think they do mate. I'm pretty sure mine doesnt state which it is
ashbuster
ahh, i have a facelift so i dont have that display. not sure why they would change the digital display to a crap one on the facelifts.
Zeiretto
This one does: http://2-photos2.ebizautos.com/used-1993-toyota-supra-basetrim-3739-9245124-34-640.jpg
SPG
Maybe your display has a fault and the km is just unlit?
LOGIE
mine doesn't say km or miles either but i zero'd it and drove it with a sat nav and checked it for accuracy. runs in miles and is accurate.

safcdixon
Mine say miles too, have you guys checked for dry solder joints?
Westy
Thread hi jack...but does anyone know if it is possible to have a digital mileage correction done on pre facelift cars!? I am talking about new imports that have clocked up KMs and now that they have been converted are ticking over in miles making the ODO display a mixture of both! When Jurgen imported my car I had the ODO set to to read the true mileage but my car is a facelift with the analogue ODO display.
Dreamscape36
Japanese imports are in km and they don't show km. UK spec shows miles on the display. The seller may have conveyed the speedo which converts the trip odo I think but cannot change the cars milage/km on the odo
stevie_b
I think the odo does have a "km" legend: see here --> http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.betts/supra/TechTips/full_odo.jpg Maybe the "km" legend in the OP's display is broken. Changing the speedo to read in mph doesn't automatically change the odo to count in miles. The two are surprisingly separate.

Dreamscape36
Well you live and learn. I guess mines broken too lol. I didn't think mine had the space to show km next to the numbers. Is it something to do with age then?
SteveC
Perhaps losing the units indication on these odometers is the digital equivalent of the numbers not lining up correctly on the old mechanical odometers? On the other hand, as mentioned earlier, it is probably (hopefully) just a faulty display.
straightsix
Have you taken it out and checked the wiring? It may be a dry solder joint on leg 40 (KMs) or leg 41 (miles) of the LCD unit (where it's soldered to the PCB). It may also be knackered. It is possible to have mileage correction done on pre-facelift models but not many places know how to do it so it takes some searching to find someone! If it is broken I have one here (already converted to display and register MILES) but the reading is higher than yours so you would need to search out the elusive mileage corrector! Nick85
Mines a '93 and displays the km at the end of the numbers. It reads 160,000km
