Iky
I have just finished fitting the kit but it doesn't seem right. The ring used to secure the dust boot looks too small. It's causing the dust boot to slightly raise on the unsecured bit. I'm worried it might let crap in. I havn't contacted Bigg Red yet bvut will do tomorrow. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm now thinking I should have just forked out a bit extra for Toyota ones. OEM is always best! OEM ones.
Dnk
Not very good and Toyota only leave a very small gap on the outer rings. I have some spare if its any help which you can have I'll have to check exactly what i've got in my parts box

Thankyou for the offers chaps but I do still have the original ones but the seem a slightly slack fit on the new dust boots compared to the old ones so I'm worried they will slip off. The Bigg Red rings are really tight, (I broke my thumb nails trying to get them on) also as you can see the ends are not shaped 100% so are actually 'digging in' into the boot. I bet they have pierced it. If B.R don't do anything about it, I'm just going to get a new Toyota kit.
Iky
Just been on the phone to Bigg Red, He said there shouldn't be an issue but I don't want to risk them seizing up a few k miles down the line and warping the discs. He also mentioned that they use the other wire type as well. He said If I wasn't happy, I could send them back for a full refund which I will do. I'm going to order some oem ones. Ah well, time wasted and lesson learned. STICK WITH OEM!
Dnk
Not sure you can buy the retainers on there own from Toyota, pretty sure they come in the seal kits with everything else Edited March 21, 2013 by Dnk (see edit history)

mellonman
its only a retaining clip im sure it would be strong enough to hold the rubber boot on before it turnt to dust
Iky
its only a retaining clip im sure it would be strong enough to hold the rubber boot on before it turnt to dust Would have been fine I'm sure, but I think the bands have pierced the dust boot, I took one off to inspect and I could see a speck of light shining through. So I'm just gonna replace the whole lot. I am a bit anal when it comes to brakes. Especially on a car like the Supra. Woudn't matter if it was an N/A i could stop one of those flintstone style! Iky
All sorted now, thanks to Keron. Top bloke got the parts ordered and sent out asap. The Toyota dust seals are different to the Bigg Red ones, these have a definite groove in them to keep the wire retaining clip in place to prevent it slipping off. Also would like to mention that Bigg Red sorted a refund out asap. The chap on the phone was straight forward and sorted the refund out quickly. They are not bad products, but if anyone does buy one of their kits, just mention that you want the wire type retaining clips and NOT the band type.
