paulj1
Hi guys going to spend couple of days under car with wire brush to get rid of surface rust them want to underseal everything so just wondering what's good to use and what should I avoid. I haven't got a spray gun so would need to be aerosol or brush on.

paulj1
Waxoyl? Heard mixed reviews of this some say its good others say never again lol. That's why I'm trying to see what others use want to do suspension parts too.
SteveC
Waxoyl does come in a yellow can. I've used Waxoyl years ago and it's OK, but what I've had put on this car is Dinitrol - and it is said by many to be far better than Waxoyl.

SteveC
Can dinitrol be painted straight on to rust after wire brushing? It can but there's a few different types of Dinitrol. There's one that goes on the rusty parts (neutralises the rust), another that's good for exposed parts (floor pan etc) and another that's good for box sections. I had mine done professionally so I can't recall which type (product number) was used where.

Kaan W
Do these underseal products dry or is this the stuff that stays tacky? Also is this the same as stone chip or does it do the same job?
paulj1
Not sure about dinitrol but Waxoyl stays tacky
jonc
http://www.dinitrol.co.uk/rust_prevention_waxes_and_oils.aspx Try this stuff. Classic car buffs swear by it to keep their non galvanized bodies safe from rust. Although Waxoyl is available everywhere is does not perform that well compared to other products
SteveC
Stevec out of interest how much did it cost to have yours done? IIRC, it was around £360 a couple of years ago. Not cheap, but it saved me and my garage getting covered in the stuff. Edit: I saw the receipt for work yesterday, it was actually £460. Caesard
Use POR-15 first and then stone chip it in Tetrasyl. The POR-15 can literally be brushed or sprayed directly over the rust and will kill it. If you want to go mental or anal (like i am doing), then wirebrush the rust out, and spray Metal Ready on it first, wait until bone dry, then POR- 15. Am doing my car at the moment, and will do a writeup of my build later.
