monkey76364
Not mine but the others halfs little car. Some prat of a woman decided yesterday it would be a good idea to pull out of a side road with out looking just as she was coming along. Luckily she was only doing 30 MPH as there is a camera 100 yards further up, but it has still destroyed the front of the car, pushing the radiator throught the engine and by the looks of it bending the chasie.. expecting them to right it off and its only 3 months old. Only thing that is positive is there will be a few claims to put in for as it knocked her leg and pushed her knee cap out of place (ouch) and with whiplash too... a pay out will come in handy now ! One thing to be looked into is that the air bag didnt deploy so if its a fault in the car, we will take the gargae for all we can too !!! Mad Matt
Glad she's ok m8! Worrying about airbag though? Compensation money always softens the blow! You'll be busy while she rests that knee!! LOL!

Faye
Ouch good to hear your G/F is relatively okay though. You should have kept hold of the white Supe, you could have had one each then.
monkey76364
http://www.helphire.co.uk Cheers for that. Her insurance (Tesco) has said she can have a car for 14 days when she is fit to drive again, plus they are covering her pay from work too !!! The other driver addmitted that it was her fault to the police, so lets just hope it doesnt drag on too long, but im sure it will.

Ark
Air bags are often designed _not_ to go off for comparatively slow speed impacts, because they can cause more injuries than they prevent...
monkey76364
well it should have gone off in this one I think, the police recon that too. She has brusies where her stomach and chest were pushed into the steering wheel !!! and the front of the car is masshed (like it should do in a crash)
Ark
I only know what I read... Oh, and the fact that my missus did almost the very same thing - car's front was a goner - lights, bonnet, bumper, rad and all pipe-work...Looked a right mess, but they fixed it up OK (ish). And the airbag didn't go off. Whiplash passed after a couple of days popping paracetomol too.
ivan
http://www.helphire.co.uk Nah - use http://www.carcrash.co.uk instead. Much better by far And as she's with Tesco, she'll probably come to us anyway.
tbourner
Airbags sometimes don't go off unless it's a perfectly direct hit on the front of the car as well so I heard somewhere ages ago!! Maybe higher rated Euro Encap starred cars are different I don't know. Same thing happened to me when I had my ZR, I managed to avoid it with 4 up doing about 50!!!! Still to this day the scariest moment of my life!!!!! Glad there were no major injuries you should be able to fleece the garage about the airbag! Guest hairy fish
yep fords are notorious for not going off unless really welted head on,i think if my memory serves me well they had "issues" with early ones -some going off if you jumped over humpback bridges a bit hard or rolled into parked cars, not very pleasant as you end up looking like a snowman with the dust and ringing in your ears for a few weeks not to mention a sore nose...suddenly it seemed to stop and you only have to take a little look around a salvage yard to see this to be true on alot of the ford, vauxhall, fiat type of cars...heavy impact no air bag deployment. monkey76364
Well we will just have to see what the garage say about it when they look over it, but if they belive that it should have gone off then we will look to take it further !! monkey76364
Good news The car had been declared a right off, and they are going tot give us £4075 and whne we only paid £4100 2 months ago it seems good too me ! Oh well looks like this weekend will now be spent looking for a new small car for her to use now !!! any ideas for around the 4K mark !!!
