kjgreen3
Yes very weird. If this is a legit first post then congratulations on a good deal. However I rang up sky a couple of days ago for a quote and they came in ~£250 more than the cheapest quote I got which in the end was £395. So they can't please everyone. sideexitsupra
They wouldn't insure me due to my postcode! Kn*bs. Competition car for me as I can do whatever I want to the car and it doesn't change the premium!
Abz
They upped my insurance the following year by £400 and would only reduce it by £200 due to the insurance rises. Chap on the phone wasn't very helpful. That was 4 years ago, been getting quotes since but not gone back.

Dnk
Their good for some and not so good for others. It would be good to see some more details from the OP to see just how great his insurance is Car insured, postcode, age, points, ncd, etc etc as its meaningless without
a98pmalcolm
Don't like Sky any more, dropped my premium by £3 after a year.. Spoke to HIC and they did it for £350 cheaper than Sky. Sky could have matched but kept wanting proof etc. I gave up. HIC didn't even want to see pics or receipts. HIC for the win guys

Safely Insured
They wouldn't insure me due to my postcode! Kn*bs. Competition car for me as I can do whatever I want to the car and it doesn't change the premium! I wouldn't say our underwriters' exclusion of a postcode area means we are knobs but thank you none the less for the feedback. The issue we have in Manchester is that we specialise in the typical cars that are the first to go missing or be vandalised, over £2 paid for every £1 taken in premiums. HIC for the win guys Hi, we have a price match service with our underwriters but if we use this, we need to see the quotation in wiring to confirm it is like for like. Thanks - - - Updated - - - I gave proof and even though they said price match guarantee that wasn't upheld. So yea another bad experience. Will try HIC next year. I can only assume that it was not like for like but feel free to PM me if you'd like me to shed some light on this. Tyson
This has been done to death people and we all know by now that not every insurance company can give every person a competitive quote. Please refrain from accusations unless they are founded and any insurance problems need to be posted in the section marked insurance or as Ollie has kindly suggested contacting him personally. If this continues on its current course it is only going to go one way so play nice.

I didn't really think he worked for Sky...but it is a very strange first post...I've been in here a few years now and usually people tell us a little about themselves and their car/future wants or they aren't used to the forum set up and just say hello!lol! 1 post only and this newbie chose to speak about insurance? That is weird.
Safely Insured
1 post only and this newbie chose to speak about insurance? That is weird. I agree, I often report posts like this as spam when found on other forums but I can confirm, this one is not spam, username matches a new customer we have on the system and to back it up further, he has spoken to my colleague Luke who is genuinely one of the most friendly people you can meet, Luke receives more feedback than any of my colleagues put together. Further more we encourage non-members to find the club and get involved.

sideexitsupra
I wouldn't say our underwriters' exclusion of a postcode area means we are knobs but thank you none the less for the feedback. The issue we have in Manchester is that we specialise in the typical cars that are the first to go missing or be vandalised, over £2 paid for every £1 taken in premiums. I stick by what I said. I also believe that if you are offering a service to the club then you should make a commitment to offer insurance to every member. You can always adjust the premium accordingly. To flatly refuse to offer insurance is a joke and I guess when I get asked the question "Have you ever been refused insurance" I am now telling a lie if I say no? I don't live in Manchester, about 25 miles away in a BB postcode. The car has a recognised immobiliser with certificate and is always garaged unless being driven or worked on. I am over 40 with a clean licence and maximum no claims. On my recent renewal I contacted 5 other companies who were all able to offer me cover with no issues. My actual policy is underwritten by Aviva, one of the largest insurance companies out there. You can pick and choose as you wish, no skin off my nose. You will never get any business from me and I will actively encourage others to look for alternatives if the question arises.

To flatly refuse to offer insurance is a joke and I guess when I get asked the question "Have you ever been refused insurance" I am now telling a lie if I say no? It's an ongoing discussion, I'm sure a few people agree with you, I'm sure a few people do not. At the end of the day, we are a business, not a charity. We do not claim to be able to help every member and to be honest, we do not want to, eg, why would we want to insure an 18 year old on a TT Supra? It is an accident waiting to happen. Why would we insure in an area where the underwriters we use have consistently paid out double the amount they take in premium? In your line of business, would you operate at that sort of loss just to keep a customer base all happy? Shall I answer that for you? No you wouldn't. If we 'adjust the premium accordingly' for high risks, we'll be laughed at for being uncompetitive. It's lose, lose for the insurer. We'll continue to help everyone we can and thank those who give us a try and who we are unable to help. Thanks for your feedback. PS, you do not need to declare an insurer who politely refuses to offer a price as they are uncompetitive.
