Hey guys,

im new to the forums and have owned my Mkiv Supra for about 5 months (1995 SZ) im wanting to do a turbo conversion but just wondering about the durability of the driveshafts etc compared to the RZ models as we have silly Certifications for modified vehicles here, if anyone has any knowledge about this it would be much appreciated

cheers

Prop shaft between transmission and diff and drive shafts between diff and wheel hubs are certainly safe to use up to TT BPU or NA-T power & torque levels, possibly even a medium single build, with a considerate driver.

Your actual transmission (especially if it is the W58) and the crownwheel & pinion in the diff will probably be the first casualties in a high powered build.

sweet as not aiming for a high powered build just want a bit more than my NA can give me

Ha!

Thats what they ALL say!:D

No, you should be fine fella, I run a W58 transmission bolted to 1JZ BPU'd in the track car and it is holding well but I am upgrading to an R154 vey soon indeed.

The NA auto will hold together a lot better than the W58.

If you are auto and happy I think you are all set, if you have the W58 5 speed manual then you may need to think about a stronger box to run much over stock TT power and torque.

The R154 is a fairly easily sourced transmission in your neck of the woods if I'm not mistaken.

easily sourced not so much they are around but are fairly expensive my friend just sold one for $2200

$2200 works out to about £1200.

Same as I paid for my own mate, correct model R154 for the MKIV Supra, but came without clutch, flywheel or slave cylinder.

Your mate's was a good feckin' deal.:D
