Slutters
Hi guys Got a slight issue i may need to address, i am slightly worried that the turbo i have is going to melt the paint on the bonnet. I have heat shields around the turbo and around the exhaust but i think the exhaust housing will be so close to the bonnet the paint will melt. Any pictures of work arounds? Vents etc? Or am i worrying to much? Thanks Adam
charlton
How big is your turbo?!
listy
Simple solution would be to cut a vent, mesh it and add a rain channel beneath it
Littler
You could have your bonnet like Steve's?
Slutters
Do you think it will be ok?

Littler
I'm not 100% sure but iirc RT Autobodies did the mod so may be worth talking to them if you were thinking of going that route?

Drew_flux
You need a stew pot right now. see here:http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?326366-DIY-Turbo-Heat-Shield-write-up-with-pics.
Guigsy
Get a blanket for the hot side. Apparently they help spool on larger turbos too. But that might be all nonsense
hodge
A blanket and heatwrap will do the trick. But if I'm honest that turbo sits VERY high. Are you sure your bonnet will shut?
ashbuster
my blow off valve doesnt sit that high and when i shut my bonnet it hits the bov so surely that bonnet cant shut like that lol
tooquicktostop
Cut a hole in the bonnet and have the top of the turbo on show, there are a few cars in the US running that way
Alex
Just fit a blanket - they are £150 or so and are the proper solution.
Rob_Mitchell
Cut a hole in the bonnet and have the top of the turbo on show, there are a few cars in the US running that way yeah
JasonR24
Just fit a blanket - they are £150 or so and are the proper solution. Then the bonnet definitely won't shut
Alex
Then the bonnet definitely won't shut Then the turbo kit is rubbish and in the turbo is in the wrong place...
Slutters
Then the turbo kit is rubbish and in the turbo is in the wrong place... Thanks for that, its not a kit, i have made most of the parts myself... Maybe your turbo kit was a bit wimpy.... Too add, its a cast manifold so i cannot move it. Ian C
Then the bonnet definitely won't shut You know the blanket goes on the hot side, not the compressor? Turbine housing + blanket still won't be as big a diameter as the compressor housing, so why would the bonnet definitely not shut if it can currently?
