paulj1
Hi guys a friend has just bought a VVTI TT Manual and wants to fit a HKS dump valve but it has a MAF how you guys get around this without sending ecu a little nutty? Cheers paul
SPG
Its not advisable to be running a Dump Valve with the VVTi engine buddy, tell your friend to record an episode of Thomas the Tank Engine and play it back through the car audio.

Westy
What's meant to happen with a VVTi and BOV ?? :o Iv got one on mine and it's been alright Throws of the MAF mate...AFRs will be all over the place and it will over fuel itself if the BOV is vent to atmosphere. Calzo21
Oh Christ I had no idea, I mean it's ran just as well as before How do you vent to atmosphere I'm not sure if it's recirculating or atmospheric
SPG
If you are dumping pressure into the air then its atmospheric, if you are recirculating then no air should be dumped and a small chirp should be heard, unlike a whooosh off the dump valve

It very rarely whooshes, only if I lift off the pedal from turbos going
Swampy442
What's meant to happen with a VVTi and BOV ?? :o Iv got one on mine and it's been alright A MAF measures the air coming through the intake, then tells the ECU how much fuel to put into the engine. When a large amount of that air gets dumped overboard in order to make crap noises, the ECU still think X air is present and adds that amount of fuel, when in fact Y air is present and the engine over fuels. Ahhhh thanks for quick explanation Is there any signs to tell if it's running lean or is it like chlamydia can't tell haha
