Benjy
There shouldn't be a gap between the throttle and the throttle stop mate. Slacken the cable back a bit.
Chris Wilson
N/A's use a tuned induction length, adding an intercooler to an N/A engine may well cause some very odd issues, take it off !!!! I would still suspect an air leak. You can use a propane blowlamp (unlit.....), to find air leaks.
ballsdeep
There's no pipe work connected to fmic, I just left it mounted so it was one less job to do? Il take it off and see if it helps. I will also try and slacken the throttle cable off abit but the nut in the picture didn't move when I took it off. If none of that works I will check for air leaks. Thanks
Chris Wilson
If it's not plumbed in it won't be the IC. Try with the cable slackened. DO NOT move the throttle stop screws!!!!
ballsdeep
Cool one thing I did notice is when the cable isn't connected the throttle mechanism relaxes and has a smaller gap. Will this be the position it should be at? I'm thinking run the engine without the cable connected and see what it idles at then in theory I can adjust the cable? Chris Wilson
For sure, run it with the cable off. There must be slack inn the inner wire of the cable when you refit it, and the throttle stop tab must touch the adjusting screw, but as I said, DO NOT disturb the screw, or you get into recalibration routines. Ian C
You can use a propane blowlamp (unlit.....), to find air leaks. Would I be right in thinking you waft the end of the blowlamp around the hoses and if the idle picks up the engine is ingesting the propane through a leak? Does Butane work? j-a-y
yippee! my car now runs properly.i spent all bank holiday weekend investigating this problem on mine, swopping ecu,s over- no difference. swopped rotor arm over no-difference checked wiring around the engine, checked vacuums again e.g. pull them off one at a time to hear what's happening to the rpms only to find i had connected two vacuum pipes the wrong way round-the air control valve on the side of the power steering pump lol..lol...i think this happend when i changed my engine n gear box over last year something so small can have a big effect...lol..lol..... hi ,this sound like something similar to mine at the moment and iv tryed some of the above like, disconnecting battery 10- 15 mins to reset ecu; cheak air leeks: clean up idle speed control valve plus i have a spare one i tryed. it did help doing some of thos things but not solved it yet so i think il cheak for wirer connection earthing points over the weekend.... ballsdeep
Well I'm glad someone managed to fix there's im still idling at 1k.. when I cleaned the tb could I have disturbed the tps? I did open the valve manually to clean it but that's how Iv always done it? I did a vacuum test and removed the throttle cable but it stays the same! Failing that I'm thinking of trying another icv?
