mellonman
What is this all about nct ?
pedrosixfour
What is this all about nct ? National Car Test. Irelands version of the MOT with a few extra tweeks so they can screw you seven ways from sunday. The testers won't carry out any repair, no matter how small, to get the car through a test in a single visit. My car failed once because a headlight bulb was faulty, not blown but faulty, and was upsetting the beam pattern. I took the car home, fitted a new bulb and had to book a retest which, because some of the centre's test equipment would be needed, cost me €30, on top of the original €60 test. My car failed on another occasion because the county name where the car was originally registered was not display on the top of the license plate, in Irish. This despite the fact that every car registered in Ireland displays the county in which it was first registered in the reg number anyway. For example: 06-D-12345 That is a car first registered in Dublin in 2006.
