Anyone Dynamat-ed their supra?

No pics unfortunately, sorry. Will try and remember to take some pics when I come to do the roof and boot areas.

Anyway, I used the Silent Coat products bought from here and they have a good range of other stuff too:

The dampening principle is fairly straightforward acoustic dynamics really but a lot of people still opt for covering every visible part of a panel in dynamat!

Helps if you think of a Rolf Harris style wobble board 1m x 1m - if you then stuck a piece of dampener material into the centre of that board measuring 25 x 25cm, the sound produced would be very much reduced if not eliminated.

Here's some more useful links:

This guy knows his stuff and is good at explaining it all (better than me anyway lol). Some good tutorial type guides too...

Exhaust specific:

I've done my doors, rear seats and floor so far and its made a big difference to my NA running a HKS Hi-Power. Especially low-end sounds when on the motorway.

Thanks Stevo,

What would you recommend for

Rear boot

Under rear seats

Front foot well

Would like to reduce the exhaust drone coming in, and the rattle in the rear hatch area.

I used this stuff (to kill resonance from the boot to the seat floors and everything in between) as it's 2mm thick and very easy to work with.

In the doors I have Skinz 3mm Extreme matt with the eggshell foam stuff...the doors now thud (tap them and they seem solid not tinny)

I'm now in the process of going back in the the rear arch area...will pull out the clear plastic cover and extreme matt the arches.

Looking forward to driving it :)

I dyno matted my old supra all the way through.

Cost me 400 pounds from memory using the real deal large 2 x dynomat boxes to get the job done.

Probably got some pictures somewhere.

It took a good few weekends to complete the whole car, making the fit nice and tight with a small inch roller.

It did make the car very quiet inside and reduced the road noise massively, although I never got around to fitting any further stereo equipment.

Personally now looking back - I wish I never wasted my time and money.

I've just bought a bulk pack of Silent Coat Extra (4mm thick), which consists of 24 sheets with a coverage of 25 sq.ft, it was advertised as 23 sheets but I've received 2 x 12 sheet packs. It's seemed like the best value for money stuff (£75 delivered) and I've read a lot of good reviews. I'm planning to do the boot and doors, hopefully if there's any left over I'll do some bits such as door pillars and some of the rear quaters.

I was hoping to make a start tomorrow, but I've woken up to a ton of snow so I'll probably have to put it off :( but I will take some photo's.

Anyone managed to source the material and complete their supra since the thread post? Thoughts, feedback?

Not yet, though I did some work on my car today and after 15 minutes I had to go back in! Too freezing cold, my fingers were going numb. :(
