FinSupra
Hey. Decided to drop a quick one here to get some exact assist. My MK4 N/A manual -95 Supra has suddenly started to shake heavily. Shaking is there when car idles and when I give it a rev and when more revs are added the heavier is the shaking. Shaking does not stop and doesn`t matter do I rev it stationary or while driving. There are no extra noises and engine is purrrring good. Any quick thoughts on this?
Tyson
Worn engine mount ?
Ian C
Either you're running on 5 cylinders, which isn't likely if the engine is smooth as you say, or you've got an imbalance in the drivetrain like a flywheel bolt has sheared or something. FinSupra
I been suggested that the most obvious faulty part would be something to do with crankshaft pulley/damper. Could that faulty part cause the issues mentioned on first post?
Dnk
If the crank pulley was that far gone i'd have thought it would have separated by now. Put a tipex line across the face to see if its on its way out. I'd have thought engine mount or possibly gearbox mount.
ashbuster
when my crank pulley was wobbley (almost seperated) it drove fine and nothing like described in the first post plus you can see it mate, look at the bottom pulley from above does it wobble like crazy or look fine? as dnk says cant see it being that
Ian C
I can't help but think it's a misfire
Dnk
Well if its a missfire its easily checked. Go round the dizzy cap taking off 1 lead at a time and see what difference it makes to how the engine runs, put the lead back on and go to the next one and so on. Nick85
I can't help but think it's a misfire Sounds about right to me. Cured mine with new plugs and leads
