SupraD06
Hi guys, Just after some advice on spray painting at home. I know we have quite a few bodyshop/painters on here so any info would be great. Basically ive got some plastic and metal parts i want to freshen up, but the only place i can paint them is in the garage. The problem then of course is that the temperature is rather cold at the moment and im just worried that it might ruin the finish. One of the main concerns is that the metal parts are very cold, and i did wonder if it would be better to bring them inside and get them warmed up. But then i thought that if the part was warm, and i take it into the cold, will it just cause condensation and leave moisture under the paint? Or should i just leave the part in the garage and spray it in the cold? The curing time is not a problem, i just dont want moisture under the paint and it for it to start peeeling in a few months. Any info would be great Cheers
safcdixon
Get a space heater to get the room to a decent temp before painting, is your garage somewhere that you can leave the heater on? That way the moisture would stay away, im doing my whole car in a few weeks ( engine bay this weekend) im hoping for a improvement in the weather by the time i do the exterior paint

SupraD06
Cheers for the replys, Yes i can leave a heater on no problem, as the garage door is just off the kitchen so i can keep an eye on it ok. Might see how warm i can get the garage first, and if it seems to cold i may just put it off until the weather gets warmer.
Caesard
I sprayedmy front and rear bumpers in the garden, during winter this year and it came out allright. All you need is a handheld heater, so as soon as you finish spraying, you heat it. See pics of how mine turned out. Front and rear sprayed this December in my back garden. Sadly, the car is no more. ;(
