T14PPA
My overdrive light keeps flashing on the instrument cluster. And its making the box change gears a bit different. Any ideas?
Zeiretto
If your overdrive button stuck or something? Try and remove the gearknob and see if something's wrong with the wires inside it leading up to the overdrive button.
T14PPA
Ill try that but i believe its something more complicated then that
Abz
Ill try that but i believe its something more complicated then that You'd be surprised how a lot of the times it isn't Also check cables under there are connected up tight, IIRC I had a similar issue and it was a loose cable which caused the O\D to flash. Do a search on the forum too.
T14PPA
Are you talking about the cables under the gear selector?

trebor69
Speed sensor Im betting, pull the error codes. They seem to be responsible for quite a number of problems these speed sensors yes ?
supraGZaerotop
where are these speed snesors fitted to the car? interesting to keep an eye on for future reference
Swampy442
Theres a couple, one towards the front for ECU speed input and one at the very back for the speedo reference.
WildFiresupra
I've been having the same problem actually. Sometimes it flashes and sometimes it doesn't. It's pretty random. I can drive the car hard, nothing happens.. Or I could drive 50 metres up my road and it comes on!.. I'll try get my mates computer on it soon. I've heard it's possibly to do with the speed limiter, not too sure on that though :s
T14PPA
If you can let me know if you find the problem that would be a great help mate
suprakid95
if you got a series 1 1993 supra, you gotta take that top panel off with all the warning lights and the odometer attached to it, and you have to cut a wire on the odometer cables and jump it on another cable, search it up on supra forums.com there is the info there on which cables to do. i had my auto doing the same thing i did the trick and it worked never came on again. The ecu doesnt know how fast the car is going right now, so its in the safe mode, so it will shift rough, and it cut off all of the limits from the ecu, so its got no speed limiter anymore (if your car is j-spec) but you can blow it up if you rev the shit out of it, is what i heard. Dreamscape36
I had the same problem when I had a faulty trac control ECU. Swapped both ECU's and now the problems gone. Could be the same for you
The-Plethora
I have been battling code 42 for a few years now. I have completely changed my dash clocks, resoldered the odometer, done the wire cut trick to bypass and recently had the gearbox changed to a known good one but it's still coming up. I suggest a code 42 anonymous meeting with beer and biscuits where we can have a good cry. Is the cruise control linked in anyway to this? The previous owners seemed to remove a perfectly good airbag wheel with cruise control and replace it with a nasty aftermarket one, I have since swapped to a non airbag 3 spoke one without CC.
