Swampy442 Posted February 15, 2013 Share Posted February 15, 2013 These big end bearings came off a Toyota 4A GE engine with a knock, 170k miles. The top half shells have a big, shiney patch on them, the bottom ones look pretty good. Question is, what caused the shiny area, and would this be the cause of the knock? Swampy442 Posted February 23, 2013 Author Share Posted February 23, 2013 Si, not really, theres very little impact damage, looks like it got itself into the chamber wall then got embedded in the head/piston. Everything in the chamber, valves, even the spark plug were undamaged. It still runs very sweetly for a 179k mile engine.
