thomo8568
Hi Getting a odd rattle noise from front of engine. Can anyone help? It's not a constant noise and there more when car is cold. Don't think it's the fanbelt pulley as changed this for a whiffbits one just over a year ago, and cars done less than 2kmiles since. I think it could be comming from the fanbelt pully arm but not 100% sure Have taken the fan belt off and noise goes away but as the noise isn't always there it's hard to know if its helped or not? http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z364/Thomo8568/D9E6C040-63A2-4F34-913E-9B84E4437DAF-284-00000024153866E4.mp4
listy
Sounds like the fan may be slightly catching the shroud.
thomo8568
Maybe. Will have a go at stopping the fan and see if noise is still there or not. Cheers
listy
Stopping the fan? Better off just removing the shroud mate. Only way to stop the fan is to remove it.
Dnk
Take the aux belt off and see if the noise stops, if it does then you know its something linked by the belt

The noise goes away. That's why I think the viscous fan is catching the shroud
