listy
When driving slowly ( Would I be right in thinking it may be the bearing? What's the best way to find out for sure? I've checked all the subframe bolts, callipers, Coilovers, and they all seem fine. Dnk
Does the squeak speed up and slow down, does it change if you brake. Best thing to do is jack that corner up and inspect it whilst spinning the wheel by hand listening for any noise and checking for any movement top to bottom
listy
When I brake I think it stops, its kind of a rattly squeak if that makes sense? I've tried to record it, but cant pick it up
listy
Any other help/ideas? Will hopefully get the car up to have a better look tomorrow.
scott87
Have you checked the droplinks?
WildFiresupra
I had a similar rattle and squeak from the back left last year and looked into it. Found out the shock had leaked badly and the rod was completely loose(after taking it out) and went up and down freely, so I had no dampening and it would rattle and squeek going over any bumps. This could possibly be a start of the problem, just an idea
Ian C
I had a creak once that was a snapped wheel stud
Swampy442
Dust shield catching the disc slightly?
listy
Definitely not the Coilovers or studs. I'll check droplinks, and dust shield, and recheck subframe etc.
paulj1
I had a slow speed squeak couldn't find anything but when I was changing oil got bored waiting for it to drain so took antiroll bar bushes out cleaned them up and copper greased them and not heard in since in 2 years
thetrashcanman
Could be the bearing, I've got this on the front of my car at the moment, best thing to do is jack that side, and lock the steering wheel in position then give the wheel that you think is making the squeak a wiggle, if you can move it left to right considerably you need a new bearing, you'll also probably be able to feel some vibration from the wheel at higher speed if the bearing is going. I get no vibration at all at any speed, not even when doing 100+ on private track. Hopefully I'll have time to have a good look this afternoon. I'll have a look at the ARB too, as that was removed when I did the oil pump etc, and I'll check everything is tight again. Cheers for the input

listy
When you say lock the steering wheel, do you mean just with the steering lock? Or something more substantial?

listy
Right, bearing seems fine. Hardly any movement at all, and I put most of my weight behind it. Taken the wheel off, and had a look at the callipers. I need someone to explain to me how the top and bottom bolts should be sat, as they don't look right to me. Top Bottom
listy
If I do the bolts up, so they are flush with the inside part of the calliper, the brakes get stupidly tight, but if I loosen it, or leave it as it is, it just doesn't look right
SilentAgro
I have the squeak on my car too. Same calliper/wheel. I just took the break pads out wire brushed everything and copper greased it all. The squeak has now gone but have a steering wheel wobble at around 80~mph. I think its just an out of balance wheel though. I did the 14mm bolts tight on mine.
Dnk
You want to check the wheel top to bottom as well holding it at 12 and 6, if you get any movement it can also be play in the ball joints from either the top or bottom suspension arms in the hub
listy
I pulled the wheel around at 12+6, 9+3, top right bottom left, top left bottom right. I've now taken the aforementioned calliper bolts out, and put them back in. Now they are tight, but the disc is still moveable. Not easily moveable, but its not over tight. Hopefully this will sort the problem. When something is wrong, and it doesn't look right, 9 times out of 10, its going to be the problem. If its not, then I'll have to get the car on the ramp at work, and have a check of the subframe bolts, anti roll bar etc.
SilentAgro
The bolts with the rubber parts around the top, did you take those out and copper grease them up? They need to slide.
Dnk
Sounds to me like your calipers are in need of some TLC especially on the pins
listy
The callipers will be getting replaced later in the year when funds allow anyway. Just trying to cover any niggly bits as MOT is next month it flew throughout the last one, but I always worry lol. And yes, I copper greased the bolts
Rich.2211
I am no mechanic so take my advice with a pinch of salt.. but.. I would say you need to remove the sliding pins and free them up. Clean them up, copper grease them and refit making sure they're free to slide in and out. There is one at the top and one at the bottom. Edited February 17, 2013 by Rich.2211 (see edit history)
