Irvy
Todd i am in the same predicament too last garage i used were reliable but last service overfilled my oil by a litre...not good!!! apart from that they were ok...rjm in glenrothes. so also looking for somewhere your other option is falkland performance in glenrothes...but they charge a small fortune dont know if dastek in dalgety bay do anything? if you find somewhere - let me know ps...was recommended by a "friend of a friend" not to use wishaw...not sure which "garage"! Todd
I took my old Audi urq to Falkland, small fortune indeed and wasn't over impressed! Friend just took his rev1 tubby to Dastek to get a boost problem sorted, fitted new actuator and messed around with it but never fixed it, a mate traced it to a knackered cat (this fixed in his driveway) so no Dastek for me. Don't get me wrong, just my experience they may be great for other folk but I miss having a mechanic I can trust.........waaaaahhhhhhh
Guest Gerry Gaffney
Hi Guys, I had noticed some activity from this thread on our web stats, so thought I'd take a look. I would just like to point out that the MR2 in question was only booked into our workshop to have an actuator replaced, we did not diagnose or test for a problem, purely fit a part as supplied & requested by the customer. Upon testing of the car, the part was found to have made no difference, we then asked the customer if he woud like us to diagnose the problem, but he declined, as he was fed up with the car & wasn't prepared to spend anymore money. We look after quite a few Supras, & as I used to work for Toyota Motorsport, we're pretty well versed in all things Toyota. Why don't you come down & take a look around our facility, & have a chat, I'm sure we can look after you. Cheers, Gerry _________________ http://www.dastek.co.uk Performance workshop UK's Most Advanced 4WD Dyno Cell Computerised Wheel Alignment testing

tDR
BTW guys... my Dad (Ian Stewart), a proper old school and fully qualified Motor Vehicle Technician that really cares about the work he does, is now working on other peoples modified and high performance cars to earn his keep (has been employed elsewhere for the last few years) again. He's working from home near Livingston for now as he has a decent sized workshop setup there. His labour rate is £30/hr and you can book work through me via PM, email [email protected] or call him direct on 07801-568458. He has lots of experience both with high performance modified Toyotas and Nissans and can undertake all work from basic servicing to full engine rebuilds. Irvine - he's worked on your car in the past! lol Cheers, Brian.

Todd
Gerry, Apologies as that was not what I was led to believe, as I said it was just what I was told. Todd
tDR
cool can he get my turbo timer to work again - or show me how to read japanese??? Brian lol! The turbo timer worked fine until I had the Sigma CAT1 Alarm/Immob installed... apparently they can't work together as the turbo timer tries to keep the ignition active when you turn the key off and the Immobiliser tries to kill the ignition - hence you can either have the turbo timer or the Alarm system. So the installers said anyways! Makes sense. Cheers, Brian. p.s. want a hi-stall fitted? maybe a boostlogic single kit?

Todd
Well after 5 months from me posting this, who did I end up going to? tDRs Dad And what a mess he made of my car, the rattle from the exhaust at 4500 revs is gone, the clatter from the rear caliper, thats gone, the car actually goes round corners now and the front grill didn't get blown in once as it's now fitted correctly...........all these wee quirks were like companions for me on my daily commute, I'd come to think of them as friends!!!!! All kidding aside, Ian had my car for the weekend and sorted everything I asked him about and give the car the full going over, very impressed and well chuffed by the time I got home, car felt like new again (well to me!). Brian, pass on my thanks to your dad again

Guest boost205 junkie
I think I should also add that my GT-Four has had a full bottom end and Cylinder Head rebuild, just to give you an idea of what can be done by Ian. Cheers, Gary.
